Lowepro X300 AW overview

  • 1Description

The black, modular Pro Roller x300 AW from Lowepro consists of both an impact-protective hard-shell exterior and a removable Reserve Pack with a backpack harness, which holds a significant amount of gear. It holds two DSLRs with grips, around ten lenses (up to a 600mm telephoto lens), flashes and accessories between padded MaxFit interior dividers. It also accommodates up to a 17" laptop inside an easy-access stretch pocket at the front, and features numerous interior and exterior pockets for accessories.

To transport the Pro Roller with the hard-shell exterior, there is a dual-button trolley handle, with a sleek zippered cover, and durable, smooth-gliding wheels. There are also flexible and comfortable top and side grab handles with leather backings. After removal, the Reserve Pack can be carried on your back using the backpack harness, or can be grabbed with the handle at its side.

Removable Reserve Pack unzips from hard-shell exterior, which has another zippered front flap, creating two separate cases
MaxFit divider system has thinner, yet stronger touch-fastened dividers, which can be inserted after you settle your gear to maximize the interior space
Durable urethane-cast wheels glide smoothly, are vibration resistant, and feature ABEC-5 rated bearings
Built-in all weather AW cover protects the entire Pro Roller from rain and dust
TSA-approved lock is built into the pack to lock zippers
Four zippered mesh pockets are on the inside of the front flap
No-drop front organization pocket features an interior organizer with various smaller pockets to organize your accessories

    Lowepro X300 AW reviews

Pro Roller x300 AW is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bummed by this new version! I am an international wedding photographer so my bags take some abuse. I had a Lowepro X300 pro roller bag and ended up selling it a couple years back as I was scaling back my business. Of course, business picked up again and I ordered another one. HOWEVER this available model is a newer design and has many, many flaws over the older version. Primarily, the base lining against the bottom of the bag is very hard plastic with little velour on it. So your gear will start to show signs of rubbing, and I question the ability to protect in a drop. Second, the handle has channels that run vertically down the back of the bag. So your gear will sit unevenly and will wobble around. I tried stuffing the gaps with extra dividers, but that was cheap and not uniform. Last, the overall quality has really taken a nosedive. Try hard to find a new or even used version of the original X300!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Rig Like most photographers, I'm on a lifelong quest for the perfect bag. I might have come close to nirvana with this one. I bought it as a replacement for my Nature Trekker II that finally gave up the ghost. Though the Pro Roller is not suitable for backcountry work, in non-wilderness settings it is ideal. Big and solid, it can hold a ton of gear (I had to pull gear from other bags just to fill it!), rolls smoothly, and when I need to hump the bag up off road I can do it with the built in backpack set up. I had my Nature Trekker for 15 years and I think I'll have the Pro Roller just as long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big bag! I'm very happy with this roller! Going into it, I knew it was going to be a big, (and fairly heavy bag). However, I needed a solution for both my video and audio kit and this fit the bill. It comes with a plethora of dividers and really gives you a lot of flexibility in terms of rearranging your gear. The wheels are super smooth (I love that they're replaceable) and the construction overall feels really sturdy. I wish there were a few more pockets here and there (My previous bag was a think tank airport backpack), and I wish the laptop compartment was zippered, but overall I'm really glad to have gotten this roller.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again I have had my Pro Roller x300 AW by Lowepro for about a month now and I am very glad I bought it. Now I have all the room that I need for my camera gear and an easy way to transport it. Don't have to carry a heavy bag or two anymore. I have 2 cameras with lenses mounted ( 1 being a D810 with 24-70 and a D610 with 70-200), 3 flashes, bag of Pocket Wizards, filters, 2 more lenses, camera straps, along with other odds and ends.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect way to consolidate your gear I have my F3 and several lenses and my D610 and several lenses and a 600mm f/4 along with a bushel basket of stuff we all accumulate after 50 years of active photography. All none package that rolls and can be backpacked if necessary. Like in going to Hazard Canyon to photograph surfers, backpacked. I got use over the first weekend I had it by packing clothes and whatall in the shell after I took the camera case out. Bottom line is it is the most functional and well made camera case I have found. Ever.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for Event Photography I use this roller to transport all my cameras, flashes, and lenses to events such as weddings or on-location fashion shoots. So room for stuff and keeping it well organized in the roller is great. It is well build and sturdy, which is necessary to handle a lot of heavy equipment. I have not yet figured out what the purpose/advantage of the reserve backpack is, because I cannot carry the full contingency of equipment on my back. The straps are totally inadequate for such a load. Three other points that are not so great about the roller are: It cannot accommodate a Canon 70-200mm lens upright, there are no straps that keep the lid from falling to the floor, and the zipper has a tendency to capture some of the padding fabric in the corners (this is the most severe limitation).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This bag makes my life really easy. I bought this bag about a month ago. It's a really well made bag and fits everything I need for any photography gig. The wheels make it really easy to drag it anywhere i need to go. This bag is a little bigger than a carry on bag so you can't take it with you as carry on luggage but you can check it in. I carry one Nikon D800 with 24-70 mounted on it...a 2nd Nikon D800 with a 70-200 mounted on it. All the flashes I own, a couple of my prime lenses and still has space to hold some additional stuff. I have used it at a couple of wedding photography gigs. I used to carry 2 backpacks so it makes my life really easy!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from The older version is better I borrowed my friend X300 bag because I needed to use a bigger bag and it was great, I could fit to 5D Mark 4 with the lenses attach 24 to 70 70 200. so I decide to get to this new x300 bag. When I was setting up the bag I found out there's a big problem if you put two cameras with the lenses on it there was so much wasted space and the dividers are not flexible enough like the old version so you have to setup the bag in a particular way.
