Manfrotto MK055XPRO3-3W overview

  • 1Description

The Manfrotto MT055XPRO3-3W Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head is a 3-section support with a 3-way pan/tilt head. It has a load capacity of 17.6 lb and extends from 3.5" to 72.1". Its legs are secured by the Quick Power Locks. These updated flip locks increase the tripod's rigidity by 50%.

A redesigned center column has a "one finger" operation, and includes an Easy Link attachment for attaching accessories such as an LED light or a reflector. The center column can be positioned horizontally, allowing for low-angle and macro photography. The upper disc where a tripod head is mounted has been redesigned as well, and now has a bull's eye bubble level that rotates 360° so you can locate it where you can see it. This allows you to level your camera on both the horizontal and vertical planes.

The MHXPRO-3W 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head is a compact pan/tilt head with retractable levers that can be extended as needed. Two knobs control the friction for the front-to-back and side-to-side tilt, allowing you to fine tune the movements based on the weight of your gear. Three leveling bubbles ensure your composition is level on all axes.

Manfrotto MK055XPRO3-3W reviews

MT055XPRO3-3W Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 67.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and sturdy tripod Great tripod! I've owned two cheap tripods over the years that eventually break, but this Manfrotto feels solid! At 7.7 lbs its light enough to hike with but sturdy enough for a Canon C100 Mark II with a Canon 100-400 mm telephoto lens. The head is more for photos, but I think it does fine for video too. I really like the 3-way pan/tilt head as it makes leveling the camera and setting up shots quick and easy, so you don't have to perfectly adjust the legs every time. The quick release plate locks in place securely with no wiggle room, which is perfect. I strongly recommend this tripod/head combo for the space and weight conscious user who needs an all-around rugged tripod with Manfrotto quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth Every Penny. Okay, Im 6'2'' and this tripod comes up to me without having to hunch over. Love it! But if I want to lie on the ground and shoot this tripod can do it as well. The (4) that's right 4 bubble levels insures that anyone can take a level shot. Has a hook for hanging a sandbag if needed. For some heavier lenses in windy areas that hook will come in good use. Haven't had the chance to use the 360 degree tilting center column. This function alone would be very useful for getting into tight quarters where you the photographer might not fit. It does have some weight to it, but that's what helps a tripod remain in place. I have it attached to the back of my camera backpack and it's no problem at all to carry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, the best youll get We use it to make content for social media, recipes and DIY, its adjustable head and weight balance allows us to place the camera in complex positions that would require a more sophisticated tripod, perfect for top down shots. An added perk is its leg configuration makes it extremely versatile and finally it has a great build, it feels solid, and the moving parts and locks feel well made. The knobs are easy to use and so fast and precise its just brilliant. Its just the best of what youll get for the price it should be pricier but dont tell the guys from B&H. Cons: Itmight be a little bit heavy, but we dont plan on traveling with it so it doesnt matter to us.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellant mid-range tripod Not a cheap little mount but not too pricey. A little on the heavy side, but I don't mind at all for what I do. I was looking for a versatile but sturdy tripod that could hold my Nikon D500 with battery pack and a 500mm lens and this one suits me perfectly. It's probably not one you would want to take hiking but if you are doing landscape, long exposure light painting and some wildlife photography this tripod is an excellent choice. This mount has so much versatility I just can't see how it couldn't give you the setup you need to get your shot. Two thumbs up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pleased.with the purchase I am not sure if everone would be comfortable with its weight, especially on a mountainous trek. I use the tripod for travel and for landscape phtography, which of course I do when I travel. The point is that it is sturdy enough for everyday use and compact enough for travel. It locks your camera and tele lens in place, as long as you do not go much beyond the 17lb. capacity. It can be prepared for shooting in a jiffy, can get reasonably high and also very low, that's the versatility of this product. I have just two issues. The first is that the seating to lock the camera in place is rather on the smaller side and in the dark, you can find yourself fidgeting a bit to lock the camera in place. The second is, if you are not careful you can pinch your finger when unlocking the legs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've found the tripod I've been looking for my whole life! After many years of being frustrated w/my tripod, I did much research and talked to many patient salesmen @ B&H and found this one. It's sturdy, easily holds my Canon and its 400mm lens. I use it for taking pictures of eagles and finally am getting sharp images. I love the ease & quickness with which I can attach the camera to the tripod, as well as the smooth horizontal panning. There are 3 bubble levels to check, the legs extend and lock in place very easily using your thumb.Leave it to the Italians to make a tripod a work of art!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this tripod This is a very well built tripod and that 3 way pan and tilt head is great... I've always used ballheads in the past, no more. I really like the control I have over my camera using a good quality 3 way head. You can position the center column horizontally, a really nice feature. I am very happy with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A true professional tripod. My Manfrotto tripod is my first true professional level tripod although I have been in professional photography for some years. This brand and model came highly recommended by other professional-level photographers such as Eric Pellitier, Las Plumas Birdwatching Tours, Mindo, Ecuador. I have already used it to prepare for a shoot of the solar eclipse in Smith Rock, Oregon on the 21st. It has incredible versatility and provides a dead-solid platform for my heavy Canon 7D Mark II DSLR with large telephoto lenses. This tripod will enable me to get the sharpest possible shots of wildlife at great distances. As a specialist in photographing Hummingbirds in North, Central and South America, I feel that I will be able to improve my results greatly with this tripod. I would strongly recommend this tripod to any serious photographer.
