Manfrotto MK055XPRO3 Tripod with XPRO Ball He... Overview

The MK055XPRO3-BHQ2 Aluminum Tripod from Manfrotto pairs the MT055XPRO3 aluminum tripod legs with the MHXPRO-BHQ2 XPRO Ball Head with a 200PL quick release clamp and plate. The tripod is a three-section support that has a load capacity of 33.1 lb and extends from 9" to 71.5". Its legs are secured by Quick Power Locks, which are updated flip locks that increase the tripod's rigidity by 50%, and its load capacity by 4.4 lb over its predecessor.

A redesigned center column has a one-finger operation and includes an Easy Link attachment for attaching accessories such as an LED light or a reflector. The center column can be positioned horizontally, allowing for low-angle and macro photography. The upper disc where a tripod head is mounted has been redesigned as well, and now has a bull's eye bubble level that rotates 360°, so you can locate it where you can see it. This allows you to level your camera on both the horizontal and vertical planes.

The included ball head lets you fine tune your adjustments thanks to separate knobs for both the ball and the 360° panning, as well as a friction control knob for more exacting placement. The 200PL quick-release clamp and plate allow for quick camera attachment and removal, and two bubble levels let you adjust your camera so the horizon is level. A numbered scale around the base of the head makes repeating exact pans an easy task.

I asked a professional photographer for a recommendation and this was his suggestion. It does not disappoint. It is a solid piece of equipment, very stable, and very versatile. I would recommend it highly.

Mine came broken in box they won't repair or return it

I had opened my birthday tripod and I was thrilled what a beautiful piece of equipment. I got my Nikon out put it on the attachment to the top it fit perfectly was thrilled. I hadn't used it because of Covid, basically staying at home most of the time got it out to photograph birds, adjusted the legs and one of the adjusters was broken and the buckle fell off first time adjusting it. I hadn't noticed so BH Camera won't fix or repair it. I'm so glad we got a professional tripod that is beautiful and broken. There was a small black plastic piece broken in bottom of the mailing box when I turned box I kept upside down after I noticed tripod was broken that fell out of big box. The mailing box was perfect no dents whatsoever so this was already damaged put in a box to be shipped from the factory I imagine or already a returned product that was already broken. So bummed and disappointed but I can put on a glove so I don't cut my hand when adjusting the buckle on the leg.

The Manfrotto MK055XPRO3-BHQ2 is sturdy support and easy to use . I use it with the Pro ball head and a gimbal with longer glass. Not lightweight and for my use that kinda the point.

Thus far the tripod has proved sturdy and highly functional. I love the adjustable center pole that pivots horizontally.

question

Can this tripod hold Canon 5d Mark IV with a Canon 600mm f4 lens?
Asked by: Anonymous
No .. i would not recommend using a ball head of any kind with a big heavy lens like a 600mm f/4. it may support the weight. but it would be dangerously unstable. the first time you let go of the camera without having it locked down. it's going to flop down, lens dive. even possibly hard enough to damage the lens mount. or topple the whole rig over. if you spent the big bucks for the good glass. get a serious support set up. for a lens that large. I'd recommend a Wimberley WH 2 II, and a Gitzo 4 series tripod. the best tool for the job. the choice of most professionals. and made specifically for setups like yours. of course you can get them both a B&H ..
