Gitzo GT2532 overview

  • 1Description

The GT2532 Mountaineer Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod from Gitzo features Carbon eXact tubing, which includes High Modulus carbon fiber in the lower leg sections, adding to their diameters and making the tripod more rigid and stronger than its predecessor. The GT2532 has a load capacity of 39.7 lb, extends to a maximum height of 65.4", and folds down to 25.6" for transport.

The center column on the tripod can be removed for Ground Level Set, which enables the tripod to reach its lowest height of 6.3". Its three-section legs are secured with twist locks that incorporate G-lock Ultra, which has an internal O-ring to prevent dust and particles from entering the leg system. The top spider has been redesigned to add rigidity and large leg angle selectors give you more area to grip when readjusting leg angles. A ballast hook on the center column allows you to add weight to increase the tripod's stability.

    Gitzo GT2532 reviews

GT2532 Mountaineer Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tripod I bought this tripod to replace a Gitzo metal tripod. It was a shorter tripod to keep the weight down so I had to do a lot of bending over. I also had to use both the long and short center posts with it and swap the ball head all the time. The Ground Level Set feature of the center post on the GT2532 eliminates this problem and make the switch from ground level to high shooting easy. The twist locks on the legs are VERY smoothe and require very little rotation to lock and release. The legs are VERY stiff and testing shows the tripod dampens vibration well. Its and expensive tripod but worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Great Any concerns about expense melted away after a few hours with this absolutely great tripod. It is light weight, stiff, and quickly sets up and breaks down. I upgraded from a very old Gitzo G226 Reporter, and I don't know why I waited so long. I like the center column which gives me the two or three inches I need for eye-level work with my Canon 7D/MKII attached to a Kirk BH-3 and Wimberley Sidekick. The column is easily removed for ground level set. With the 3 sections, rather than the 4 of the GT2542, you give up 5 in maximum height and have a longer folded length, but it feels sturdier and more stable. Thanks Gitzo and B&H.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Tripod This is my first tripod with twist locks for the leg sections. The G Lock Ultra leg locks are fast and easy to use. 1/4 turn to release, 1/4 turn to lock - super. The legs can be set independently at three different angles. I have used all three and combinations of the three. They adjust quickly and are easy to use, even with gloves on and a camera mounted on the tripod. I have removed the center column and shoot without it. Setting up at ground level is much quicker with it already removed. I do carry it with me to reinstall if needed, maybe on a windy day to hang weight on the built in hook. It even has a tripod head locking screw on the top plate and comes with a dust bag. It is solid, light and remarkably easy to use. TIP: If it starts to rattle, tighten the feet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A GOOD SOLID ALLROUNDER I have used the prior model GT 2531 for 3 yrs,( after using a Manfrotto 190B for 3 yrs) but the following points are valid. AS ALWAYS IT DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU WANT IT FOR!!!A lighter one would be better for hiking extensively--Sure would!A Heavier one better for studio or Mega-Lens work--Sure would! An explorer version base and column better for lots of macro work etc etc- Sure would!A More Compact fold down length ( 4-5 Sections)would be better for packing frequently- Sure would!BUT overall if you want a single tripod to cover most non extreme situations , one that is light enough to tote, AND with great weight capacity (12kg-now 18kg), AND quick to setup, this unit fits the bill perfectly...IMHO!FYI I also purchased a Markins TB-20 base that allows you to remove the centre column entirely ( less Weight and lower ground set) for those occasions when every gram matters and/ or very close to ground use is critical. Also bought the Spiked feet and they are a must have if used a lot on uneven ground.BTW its Portable enough to fit diagonally in a medium suitcase without a head attached , and light enough for medium hiking use.Used with lenses up to 300mm F4 ,70-200L F/2.8 IS USM II with 5DMKII & 7D, mounted to Acratech levelling base and GV2 Ballhead..No problems!GO BUY IT IF THE ABOVE FITS YOUR STYLE.....YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!!BTW shipped ex B&H to Australia cheaper and quicker than same from Melbourne, Australia

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very glad of my choice Great combination of light weight and stiffness. Quality starts from the box and will not disappoint when you open it. However if you think about traveling then GT1532 will meet you expectations better. But that size finally made my choice towards 2532. Gitzo or something else? Only Gitzo. All works fine, carbon fibre is absolutely beautiful which also important for carbon fans. Purchased c/w Gitzo Gc3101 bag. Great combination if you always have this tripod in your car or travel. Nicely fit tripod with Gitzo GH2720QR all together without disconnecting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Excellent tripod. Easy set up and take down. A slight twist locks and unlocks. The locks are sized appropriate. They feel like they will last a long time. Very stable. Handles my D810 with 80-400 with ease. The 6x carbon is smooth and just pretty to look at.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best set of sticks around! Highly durable and extremely rugged. I'm an ornithologist by trade, and that means I take my gear out into some nasty habitat. The Gitzo Mountaineer has never let me down. I do recommend purchasing the spike foot set if you do any outdoor work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is an additional Gitzo Tripod. Awesome products We have 2 other Gitzo tripods. They perform flawlessly for us in our outdoor photography. They set up quickly when it counts. Wildlife moves fast and the shots can be lost if you take too long setting up. No problem with these tripods. Legs extend and lock in seconds. Light, easy to carry and very strong. I've looked at others but nothing compares to our Gitzo tripods.
