    Tascam UH-7000 reviews

UH-7000 USB Interface and Standalone Mic Preamp is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't sleep on this Product I gave this a five mainly for the audio quality. Let me preface that I have owned an apogee symphony i/o and a Lynx hilo. The playback is not as wide as neiher of those two but its also not as colored as the symphony and responds better to transients than the hilo. I think that It could use more I/O's and have a separate headphone out but for the price this deserves a seventh star. I have also owned other interfaces i.e. RME UFX, Mr 816, Emu-1616m ect..) This is definitely In the big boy category in regard to audio quality, Detail, depth, and balance without sounding boring. I think that I like this better than all the others that I have mentioned but the jury is still out!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Deal This will be my new portable 2 channel rig. Have been lugging around a RME FireFace UFX and separate mic pre's for too long. Hoping this will be a lightweight alternative of similar quallity.Build quality is great, and for $ with a free pair of headphones and a $ manufacturer's mail in rebate, this is a steal. So far have only listened to the headphone amp. Clean, quite, and has a sufficient power to drive high impedance loads. Haven't put mic pre's to the test yet, curious to see how the analog front end performs.Wish there wasn't a required software interface, but I see how that is appealing to some customers. I don't need the functionality, so it just gets in the way.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great DAW Typically use the Tascam UH-7000 for demo recording before going into a studio. Likely, however sound quality for vocals with a decent microphone would be more than enough for the final recording (use a Rode K2 with a NOS Siemens Military tube from 1961 + latest Propellerheads Reason). Sound quality for vocals are great!!! - Dont like the multifunction knobs. Better with seperate knobs for quicker settings suchg as phantom power or link line (=use the headphone knob to controll the monitor volume). - The headphone knob is far to small. - The software is rather limited

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and clean. Love it! Other than the fact B & H sent me a used unit and charged me the price of a brand new one (!!!), I love this thing. For the money it's a no brainer purchase, even if you use it strictly as a mic preamp, which is what I have done so far. It is extremely quiet (especially compared to my Presonus Firestudio), and you can hear all the subtleties of what you are recording with miniscule amounts of noise. I am planning on recording acoustic guitar with it, but so far I have used it as a preamp for my Shure KSM 32s set up as drum overheads. The mics through the Tascam are extremely crisp, with fantastic lows and phenomenal definition. In terms of neutrality and cleanliness, the Tascam wins too. There is no signal coloring I can pick up with my ears. My drummer shares that too. From what I am hearing so far, I am ecstatic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant B&H has the deal on the Tascam UH-7000! Free gift with mine. This is a fantastic piece of equipment. The DAC and headphone amp sounds beautiful, it's built like a dang brick house, and the mic preamps sound very good. Neutral but good. The level meters are superb. The interface software is pretty basic but it works. One of the best DAC's I've heard, especially for the price. Nice going, Tascam! 5-stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best I ever had! I've had several audio interfaces ranging from the m-audio delta up to the RME UFX - which I really really liked and considered it to be at the top of the others I've had. I'm a musician / hobbyist / composer, so I like to get the best sound that I can, without breaking the bank - with the RME UFX, I just couldn't justify the cost. I felt like I could do so much more with the money. And then I saw the answer - this! Definitely not as many in/outs as the UFX, but I like the preamps and the da on this a lot better. The UFX was just really really sterile - which was just boring to me. I have a Apogee Rosetta, and let's just say this Tascam puts a smile on my face as well as the Rosetta did! Looking at the price tag, it kind of made me skeptical about how good it really was, but I figured what did I have to lose. Apparently nothing. If you're thinking about buying it, just go ahead and click add to cart already. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PLAIN AWESOMENESS!!! okay....first and foremost, ive used many different mics and interfaces over the years in many home studio/portable studio enviornments....both cheap and expensive....and this BLOWS EVERYTHING ELSE AWAY!! sound quality is absolutely premium...the problem with alot of my past setups was that you couldnt hear the true character of the microphones because the preamps and converters werent powerful enough...now put the headphones on with this thing!! even on the lowest volume on the preamp you can hear yourself crystal clear...and halfway up you will be amazed how great it picks up...and i can tailor how i want someones voice in the mix on the monitor panel included PERFECTLY! and this is something new to me....very satisfied....only one very small grip is on the software it only lets you choose one of the added effects at a time....(eq, compression, de-esser, etc)...but compare to all the features on this box....its an AMAZING product...i use a SE Electronics SE 2200a II mic thru this and i use Pro Tools 10/11...best quality ive ever had....hands down....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Preamps! I use this Tascam UH-7000 as the audio interface for my MacBook Pro system. I have tested it with a number of mics including the Rode NT1 and I am very pleased with the low noise floor. I like it's simplicity, ease of use and lack of programability. As my order was coming my way B&H dropped the price and was very willing to credit me the difference for a mere phone call. Thank you B&H. That's why I have done business with you for over 20 years.
