Rokinon 10mm f/2.8 overview

  • 1Description

The Canon EF mount Rokinon 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens is a prime, manual focus wide-angle lens designed specifically for use with APS-C sized image sensors. Providing a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 16mm and a broad 105.9° angle of view, this lens is ideally suited for interior, architectural, and landscape photography applications. One extra-low dispersion element and two aspherical elements have been incorporated into the optical design to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion in order to produce sharper images. Additionally, a Nano Coating System (NCS) has been applied to the lens elements in order to reduce surface reflections and prevent lens flare and ghosting for improved light transmission and more contrast-rich imagery.

Prime wide-angle lens provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 16mm, making it ideally suited for indoor, architectural, and landscape subjects.
Fast f/2.8 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions.
Manual focus design permits selective control over focus placement.
One extra-low dispersion element and two aspherical elements reduce chromatic aberrations and distortions in order to produce sharper images.
Nano Coating System improves light transmission and suppresses lens flare and ghosting for more contrast-rich, color-neutral images.

    Rokinon 10mm f/2.8 reviews

10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens for Canon EF Mount is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from size matters Bought this lens for my Blackmagic 4K camera. I already own the Tokina 11-16mm, which I also like very much... but, that extra millimetre adds about 10% to the field of view AND the edges are unquestionably sharper with less chromatic aberration than the Tokina. Center sharpness between the two lenses is pretty much equal. The Rokinon focuses much closer than the Tokina which I also really like. I don't ever want to go past f8 on this lens, which is a bit of a problem in daylight - so the inability to put an ND on it is really the only thing to watch out for. Looks like the Tokina still has a job!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow This is my first wide angle lens. I can hardly believe how much of the scene fits into the frame. The lens is crystal clear and fairly easy to use. The manual focus and f-stop settings take some getting used to at least for me. Setting the focus seemed difficult at first, however setting the focus ring just before infinity puts almost all shots in total focus. Using live view with magnification puts focus dead on. The lens feels durable and well built. So far I have only taken shots to help me understand the lens but I am happy and impressed with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Astrophotography Lens Just recently bought this lens for shooting the night sky and I was very impress with the performance. Star Trails and Milky Photos turn up very nice. Vignetting appears to be non-existence.I was thinking between this lens and the 16mm Rokinon (Which also has great reviews) and for only $ more you get the 6mm drop in Focal Length for the 10mm Ultra Wide view. That to be me was the best extra $ you can spend to capture a huge range in a photo w/o getting the distortion of a fish lens (which an 8mm lens will get you). This is a manual lens, but for night photography it really isn't that big of a deal because you'll just leave the f-stop at 2.8 and focus at infinity for best performance.Lens is pretty big for it's size and it does not take lens filters. Given that lens filters are basically unnecessary in the digital world and that this isn't a walk around lens these drawbacks really didn't matter to me.$ for a solid prime ultra wide lens while a canon equivalent would go for $-$. Best bang for your buck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Glass A fantastic lens for astrophotography - and I lucked out and got one that is squared corner to corner (something of an issue with this brand and all others in the family). No having to have replacements sent one-three times until I hit on the trued glass. Once you get one that is squared you have an excellent lens in your hands for the price and then some!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lens I use this lens to take night astronomical Time-Lapses, with a Canon 70D, and the pics are very sharp and luminous. Great buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super wide and sharp I was worried about getting a lens that is soft in the corners. This was not the case for me. I bought this lens for aurora/astrophotography and pleasantly surprised with the sharpness, even on my 7dmk2 at night. This is a huge upgrade freon my Tokina and highly recommend it for anyone interested in it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Expectations I've bought it for astrophotography, didn't have the opportunity yet, but I discovered it's great for architecture and landscapes with a different point of view. Whitout the deformation of a fisheye, it's really wide and gives new possibilites. It's my new favorite. Totally manual, it's not a problem at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I love it Crystal clear sharp glass, just wish I could fit a ring filter around the front
