Rokinon 10mm f/2.8 overview

  • 1Description

The Nikon F mount Rokinon 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens is a prime, manual focus wide-angle lens designed specifically for use with APS-C sized image sensors. Providing a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 15mm and a broad 109.5° angle of view, this lens is ideally suited for interior, architectural, and landscape photography applications. One extra-low dispersion element and two aspherical elements have been incorporated into the optical design to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion in order to produce sharper images. Additionally, a Nano Coating System (NCS) has been applied to the lens elements in order to reduce surface reflections and prevent lens flare and ghosting for improved light transmission and more contrast-rich imagery.

The Nikon F mount of this lens incorporates a CPU that enables full control over exposure parameters, including P/A/S/M modes, with Nikon DSLRs.

Prime wide-angle lens provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 15mm, making it ideally suited for indoor, architectural, and landscape subjects.
Fast f/2.8 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions.

    Rokinon 10mm f/2.8 reviews

10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens for Nikon F Mount is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great lens for the price. A+++ I was a little wary about buying a manual focus lens mainly because I'm bad at focusing. It took some practice and using a lot of zooming in on live view with my D7200, but I'm impressed with this lens. The distortion on the edge is minimal and easily correctable in Lightroom or your preferred software. There's very little vignetting as well. I'll mainly use this lens for indoor photography but I think with practice it will make an excellent landscape lens as well. This lens seems a lot more sensitive to ISO and F stop settings than some others but that might be normal for such a wide angle. I'm still learning photography but I do not regret purchasing this lens and at this price I think it's an excellent buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Specialty Lens for Nikon DX I got the Rokinon 10mm f/2.8 for shooting galaxy time lapse photography. It does everything you'd expect from a f/2.8 10mm lens in low light. And, most important, the image quality across the image at f/2.8 is very sharp and clear. Chromatic Aberration is very low for a fast prime. And this is a welcomed feature in galaxy shooting where CA can be a big problem. Distortion is well controlled, and lens flare is not much of a problem as other ultra wides. For the price it's not a cheap lens when you consider it manual focus. And it has the chip to work with DX Nikon Cameras. With the Nikon D7100 and D5500, you set the aperture on the lens barrel to f/22 (max), and you change the aperture value via the camera dials not the lens. The lens' electronics also sync with the exposure and focus confirmation, which make getting the right exposure and focus easy. The lens has a hyperfocal distance scale that works great. And, this makes manual focus is easy to set, especially in the dark. Because the focus throw is long it allow for more error, as well as precision when manual focusing. It's also dampened for very smooth operation. This lens feels solid and of high quality. This is a great specialty lens. Works well for close spaces, and wide time lapse shots in very dark conditions. The distortion does not feel that intrusive when keeping the horizon and tilt level. But once you tilt the lens the massive distortion will negatively impact any scene or subject with straight lines. Some factors to consider: this lens is manual focus, has no ability to mount screw on filters, is pretty big and hefty. Nevertheless, a great lens. Solid build, superior image quality, easy to manual focus, electronics work with Nikon's aperture, focus confirmation, and exposure functions. And it's the only ultra wide 10mm at f/2.8 on the market for the DX Nikon. If you're looking for the ideal for low light and astrophotography for a DX, this is the one.
