The Canon C100 C300 C500 Shoulder Mount from SHAPE is a shoulder rig with light weight support (LWS) for the Canon Cinema EOS line of movie cameras. As the three have a similar profile, this rig is compatible with the C100, C300, and C500 models. The base plate features specially recessed rods to accommodate the these cameras' uniquely tall stature while ensuring proper centering of lenses in case a matte box is used.

The system includes 15mm rods with the standard LWS spacing of 60mm. Because rod-based accessories are standardized you can use virtually any 15mm accessories for LWS you want with this rig. Types of accessories include, follow focuses, matte boxes, mounts for external audio and video recorders, EVFs, battery plates, cages, and more. The included rods are 18" in length and can be extended if needed.

Handles and a shoulder pad allow you to use the Canon C100 C300 C500 Shoulder Mount on a tripod or hand-held. The handles feature rosettes and spring-loaded push-buttons so that the angle can be adjusted on the fly without having to loosen a screw. Both the hand grips and the shoulder pad clamp onto the rods using a single red knob that ratchets in case you can't turn it a full circle. Extension rods can be added behind the shoulder pad for attaching weights, battery plates, or other accessories intended for behind the camera or to help balance the load.

Balance issue

well made rig but here is no way to balance the camera as the shoulder pad can not be placed under the baseplate, it is OK for occasional use, if you need something for long periods look elsewhere.

Light and Sturdy Mount

Albeit fairly expensive, the mount is comfortable and light. Changing around the rig is simple and easy. I use this with my C100 and have immensely enjoyed the easy of setup and breakdown as well as the comfort while shooting. I have needed a counter weight, which is not included. Overall, I highly recommend.

I wasn't sure how the build quality would be like but it is very good. Solid. Precision made. Does the job exactly as it should.

Good rig, one problem

Generally very happy with this rig, the one exception is that the bottom of the cheeseplate doesn't correctly fit a Satchler tripod which makes for a few annoying moments on initial setup.

Balance and design issues

Can't place shoulder rest directly under camera to correctly balance. Also, non standard length screws mean problems should you missplace a screw.

question

What's the main difference between this and the Shape Offset Rig?
Asked by: Tey-Marie A.
The difference between this product and the Offset Version, which is B&H # SHC100OF, is the Offset configuration itself. The Standard Version has 2 longer 15mm rods that go straight from the handles to the shoulder pad. The offset rig has two shorter sets of 15mm rods and an offset bracket. Some prefer the offset design because it puts the camera directly in front of your eyes for use.https://bhpho.to/2b1Xcio

question

Would this work with a Sony fs7 m2?

Hello Tania,Thank you for contacting us! Unfortunately, this camera support was specifically designed for the C300 Mark i. question

What do I need to use this either with a C100 mark II or a 5d mark IV?
Asked by: Jim
Hello JimThank you for your question! For the C100 Mark ii, you do not need anything else than this rig. The main baseplate of this shoulder mount was specifically designed for the Canon C series cameras (C100-C300-C500). So it should fit fine. As for the 5D Mark IV, if the optical center is not an issue, it should be ok, if it is, you can still use it but adding accessories like a mattebox might be a bit tricky. For more detailed info, please call us at 1.888.968.9810We hope this answers your questions and we thank you for your interest in our products. The SHAPE team

question

Can I relocate the remote handle to the handles on the shoulder mount?
Asked by: Anonymous
The canon side handle can be relocated but you have to buy an accessory for that. I have it and it's pretty much essential to have the side handle adapter.

question

Will this rig work with a C100 AND a C300 Mark ii?
Asked by: Julia G.
Hello Julia,Thank you for your question! The baseplate in this rig was not designed for the C100 and C300 MKii. It was designed to fit the C300 mark i. It can work, but won't be ideal and might not respect the optical center of those cameras. For instance, the C300 mark ii is a bigger camera, so if you want to add a mattebox, it might not be centered. At that point, we cannot guarantee it will fit perfectly. We hope this helps and we thank you for your interest in our products. The SHAPE team

question

I'm looking for a rig that has a quick and easy transition during events from handheld mode to tripod. Would you recommend this?
Asked by: Lauren W.
Hello LaurenThank you for your question! We would indeed recommend this rig, especially if you are using a camera from the C series, (C100-C300-C500), as this unit was specifically designed for this line of cameras. As with all our our products, this rig has threaded holes (1/4-20 & 3/8-16) underneath the main baseplate, allowing you to quickly switch from handheld to tripod, without hassle. We strongly recommend this unit.We hope this answers your question and we thank you for your interest in our products. The SHAPE team
