First use of short column for globe trotter tripod

It is useful to switch the normal longer column when you want shots closer to ground level. It saves having two tripods since switching the heads is easy enough. The only issue is when you place the column right on the ground it just sticks out enough to cause a slight imbalance even with all three legs of the tripod are extended.

Put it down low.

question

Does this short column work when you convert the globetrotter into a monopod? I am looking be able to use the monopod at a lower overall height.
Asked by: gzub
Yes, works that same as the original center post section. (Even when used as a monopod.) I switched to the smaller column and use it 100% of the time now. It is great!

question

It is specified 2 as Diameter, that's the size of the top plate ? But anyone could please tell the actual column diameter ? 1 or 1.2 ?
Asked by: LI H.
The short column for the Globetrotter Tripod is identical to the long column version that comes with the tripod...except that it is shorter (approximately 3.5 in length). The plate at the end of post is 2 in diameter.
