Does this short column work when you convert the globetrotter into a monopod? I am looking be able to use the monopod at a lower overall height.
Yes, works that same as the original center post section. (Even when used as a monopod.) I switched to the smaller column and use it 100% of the time now. It is great!

loosen the collar to free large column and then remove cap at very bottom of column (it twists off)

It is specified 2 as Diameter, that's the size of the top plate ? But anyone could please tell the actual column diameter ? 1 or 1.2 ?
The column is exactly 1.125 (1 1/8 ) in diameter.
