I will recommend cleaning up the surface if you notice any grease after cleaning the articulated arm it will be consider as defective.

What's the difference between this one Noga Cine Arm DG Hold-It Arm B&H # NODG9014CA MFR # DG9014CA and this one Noga DG9038CA CineArm DG (Medium) B&H # NODG9038CA MFR # DG9038CA? They look the same!! I know one has a 3/8 instead of a 1/4 bottom. I'm using for a shogun flame..thank you guys!!
The DG9014 is threaded at both ends of the arm for 1/4-20 thread attachment while the DG9038CA is 1/4-20 top and 3/8-16 bottom.
