Xpandable 3X Long Lens Bag (Digital Camo) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality Product I use this lens bag for my Nikkor 500mm F4E FL. In the shortest configuration it easily fits the lens with Nikon D4s attached. It's a perfect fit with important expandablity to accommodate longer lenses. A robust collar holds the small diameter end of the lens securely in place. I'm impressed with the durability and quality of all component materials. Ability to add shoulder/back-pack straps is an important optional feature. Without lens, the bag folds flat for easy, compact packing needs. Overall, a highly useful, adaptable, well designed lens bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent solution for photo safaris I bought this case in June 2014 and have so far used it for 2 1/2 weeks on a photo safari in Botswana & Zambia, another week in Kruger, and a couple of week driving in South Africa. I bought it to use with a Canon 500 f/4 Mk II + a 1.4X TC + Canon 7D. It worked just as advertised, and filled better than any other bag I've seen the need for dust and damage protection while having quick access to a long telephoto with the hood attached.. Using just the strap that comes with the case I could anchor the bag to a seat back or bar on the safari vehicle. Getting the camera and lens out was very quick and easy, and the case protected the lens beautifully. Another reviewed commented that the lens and camera rattled around the big case which was true without a collar to brace it in the case. Lenscoat has since come out with a collar that eliminates that problem>One feature I really like about the case is the way it folds up flat and fairly compact (more than any other case I've seen) so I packed it in my suitcase when I had to travel by plane. It is also very light weight.I bought the optional shoulder straps to carry it like a backpack, but have not used them much. I found that for all my purposes carrying the case from car to tent or bungalow, the shoulder strap that is included worked great and doubled as a strap to anchor the bag in the car. The shoulder straps added more things to get tangled up, and did not improve the ease of carrying the bag enough to justify having them attached. If I have to walk a longer distance with the case my opinion may change.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit for Canon 600mm lens I needed a lens case to transport my Canon 600mm lens when traveling in the car. The back pack I bought for hiking with the lens and attached camera body was too large. This case in the fully collapsed condition is a perfect fit for the lens with the hood in the reverse position. The case middle length condition is for the lens with the lens hood in the forward position. I don't recommend this position because loads on the lens hood could break the hood (a $700 item). The case in the fully extended condition is for the lens with extended hood and camera attached. Again, I don't recommend this. This can cause unnecessary loads on the lens to camera flange. The safest car transport is for the lens only with the hood in the reverse position. The build quality of the bag is very good, which helps justify the stiff price. But it is worth it to protect a mega bucks lens. I am pleased with this bag, highly recommended.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not suitable for lenses Unfortunately, I have nothing positive to say about this product. I purchased this bag new for use in transporting and carrying a 600mm prime lens. It is completely unusable for that purpose. When unfolded and assembled, it is just an empty retangular padded collapsible box - a lot like an oversized padded lunch box or gym bag. If you were to put your long lens inside, it would just flop around in all the empty space. There is absolutely nothing to protect it. If the bag were to fall over, your lens (and your camera if attached) would very likely be damaged as it hit the floor. Even as a bag to store something other than a long lens, this bag is complicated to assemble and in my opinion, extremely over-priced for what it is. This purchase is going back to B&H pronto - with the strong recommendation to remove it from any web pages that suggest the product is suitable for transporting and/or carrying a long lens. As a lens bag, it deserves zero stars.
