What’s the practical or usage suitability difference between the single and multi mode versions?
Hi Matthew,
The primary difference between the single-mode and multi-mode is their transmission distance capabilities. Our single-mode media converters are designed to support longer ranges over fiber - up to 20km (approximately 12.4 miles). In contrast, their multi-mode counterpart typically supports a distance of up to 1/3 mile. There are also different fiber optic cable types required for multi-mode and single-mode fiber optic connections, which are not interchangeable.
