For added durability, the sight's lamps are encapsulated into aluminum cylinders and have silicone cushions. For protection against gun-cleaning agents and proper distribution of light, the lamps are also sealed with sapphire windows.

I ordered the sights for a springfield xds. It was the newest model with the cut for a red dot sight in the slide. Unfortunately the rear sight did not fit. The dove tail cut for the rear sight is narrower because of the cut out in the slide for a red dot site. I called trijicon and the tech I spoke with said they are not making a rear sight to for the narrow dove tail slot at this time. My mistake. The front sight did fit. I just can't use the rear trijicon sight.
