ASUS X555LA-DB51 Overview

The X555LA-DB51 15.6" Laptop Computer from ASUS is built with the hardware for handling commonplace work or home applications. The integrated Intel HD 4400 graphics combine with the 15.6" display, which features a native resolution of 1366 x 768, to offer vivid colors as well as sharp videos or images. The 1TB hard drive provides ample space to store videos, music, photos, and data.

The 1.7 GHz Intel Core i5-4210U processor features Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 that allows the CPU to operate up to 2.7 GHz for faster performance when running intensive applications. Handling multiple applications at the same time is possible with 8GB of RAM. This notebook features Bang & Olufsen/SonicMaster Audio software technology with stereo speakers to provide clear full-range sounds for movies, games, and music. In addition to speakers, the notebook features other notable preinstalled hardware such as a DVD burner, SD card reader, and webcam. For connectivity to the networks and peripherals, 802.11b/g/n wireless, Gigabit Ethernet, and Bluetooth 4.0 are provided. Included with the notebook are an AC power adapter and a 2-cell lithium-ion polymer battery.

Dual-Core Haswell Intel Core i5 Performance
This notebook features a dual-core 4th generation 1.7 GHz Intel Core i5-4210U processor, with 3MB of L3 cache. This Haswell CPU uses less energy to give you a longer battery life. With Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, the maximum clock rate this processor can achieve is 2.7 GHz. Having dual cores also allows the notebook to run multiple programs at the same time without slowing down the computer.
SuperMulti DVD Burner
Use this optical drive to back up files, images, music, and more onto CDs and DVDs. You can also listen to music CDs, install software, and watch DVD movies.
Connectivity
When you need to access the Internet or a network, you can connect using 802.11b/g/n wireless or the Gigabit LAN RJ-45 jack. For connecting to other wireless devices, such as a mouse or speakers, the computer supports Bluetooth 4.0.
Video Calls
The built-in webcam allows you to keep in touch with everyone via video calls.
USB 3.0
This notebook offers two USB 3.0 ports that allow data transfers up to ten times faster than USB 2.0.

The Return of the Start Button
After many requests from Windows users, the Start button makes its return in Windows 8.1. While it may not be exactly the same as its predecessor in Windows 7, the Start button has two core functions. A left click on the Start button will take you to the Windows 8.1 Start screen featuring live tiles. A right click on the Start button brings up an advanced menu where you can access the Device Manager, Control Panel, Network Options, and more.
Boot Directly to the Desktop
Windows 8.1 gives you the choice of booting to the Windows 8.1 Start screen with live tiles or booting to the familiar desktop screen of Windows 7. Users can also boot directly into an app or app view if they choose to.
To the Cloud
With Windows 8.1, when signed in using your Microsoft account, you'll have instant access to your personal Start screen, themes, language preferences, browsing history, and browser favorites. You can also connect to services such as Microsoft Outlook, Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, and more.
Windows Store
In the Windows Store, you can search for or browse thousands of apps. Choose from the featured apps or grab one of the most frequently downloaded apps. You can also see how other people rate apps. You can try out some apps before you buy them to make sure they are worth the price.
