Kupo Medium Baby Kit Stand Reviews

Great Lightstand

I loved them so much I now have 3. The third leg is adjustable so can put on uneven surfaces in a pinch. Very sturdy, well made. Maybe a bit heavy, but with that comes more stability.

So good I bought another one!

For my many kits of Elinchrom kits these stands are just fine. I'm relegating these two stands each with Elinchrom Ones with modifiers for on location shoots. These stands go taller than I always need but great that they can go up to 9.5' and are sturdy. And I absolutely love the adjustable legs for working outdoors, where I can never seem to be on level ground, living in a hilly area. The tension knobs are a bit too large, like they're on steroids but, all in all, very functional and perfect. I highly recommend these Krupp stands. And B&H, thanks for such fast shipping.

High-Quality, Lightweight Stand

This is a great light stand with an added feature of an extendable leg for uneven terrain. I needed a beefy but lightweight stand for one-light setups outdoors. My big C-Stands are way too heavy and I have a few cheap stands that I don't trust. This Kupo Baby Kit Stand is a perfect solution for an easy-to-carry and durable stand. I really like the metal locking collars and knobs. Most lightweight stands have plastic parts that break -not this one. It's very solid and can withstand the rigors that portable stands get subjected to. This stand is not air-cushioned, which is a good thing (air-cushioned stands are really annoying, in my opinion). There's also plenty of room on the supports to hold a sandbag or two. And the extendable leg is a really useful feature to gain stability on uneven surfaces. Kupo makes excellent stands and this one is highly recommended by a pro who shoots every day.

Great stand for the price! Does exactly what I hoped it would do! Holds heavier lights securely.

light yet sturdy. confident in it at lower levels. fully extended, especially outdoors, i have an assistant hold it since legs don't create a wide enough base but it's to be expected from a small stand.

A very stable and sturdy light stand that has a pretty small footprint. Has a levelling foot to allow usage on non-level terrain. Not super light or travelable, but great for home studio and local shoots. I have two, which are currently providing sturdy support for an 84 seamless back drop (this has me feel secure to use with my clients).

I like them so much I have 3. I have them for several reasons: sturdy, well built, very stable, one adjustable leg to allow usage on uneven surface. It lacks hydraulics, but I prefer to take full control of moving and locking the extension of my stands. 9.5' is more than plenty for my usages.

I used 3 of them just the next day that I received them and they accomplish my expectations. I'm very satisfied with the product.

do the Kupo 80mm Brake Caster 22mm Square wheels fit this stand?
Asked by: chamindika
Kupo makes a 22mm sq tube 75mm caster. The leg is 21mm so it should fit on the leg but I'm not 100% sure if the max open angle of the legs (35*degrees) match the casters operating angle. Wheel position is fixed so it will work or not. I've been looking into adding casters for this stand also.

question

Would using a short boom with 6 lb strobe plus a 4 lb octabox without distorting the mount, getting loose and sloppy? Normal stands do that.
Asked by: Frank
The Kupo Baby Kit Stand with Square Legs (9.5') has a load capacity of 22 lbs and should be able to support the weight of the items you list above. If you would prefer a slightly stronger stand manufactured from steel instead of aluminum, the Matthews Maxi Kit Steel Stand (9.5'), B&H # MALSMKZ, and the ikan 2 Stage Roller Stand (10.5'), B&H # IKRS10, are similar in height, but are manufactured from steel and have heavy-duty locking knobs, but all three options should work for your planned usage needs.

The base seems pretty small and low on this stand. Would it be a problem to use a 60" octabox on it?
Asked by: Chris
It’s a very sturdy stand and can handle a full size strobe and a 60” Octobox. To make it safer for peace of mind just use a sand bad or 2 but you shouldn’t need it.
