StarTech USB 3.0 Dual Hard Drive Dock with Fast Charge USB Hub (Black & Silver)

The black with silver trim USB 3.0 Dual Hard Drive Dock with Fast Charge USB Hub from StarTech enables two SATA 2.5"/3.5" Hard Disk Drives (HDD) or Solid State Drives (SSD) to be connected simultaneously to a computer through USB, while controlling the power status (on/off) of each individual drive independently from each other. The enclosure supports UASP and delivers optimal performance with a USB 3.0 connection, and is also backwards compatible with USB 2.0/1.1 host connections. It features a built-in 2-port USB 3.0 hub that enables you to connect additional USB 3.0 devices to your computer, through the same USB connection. One of the ports on the hub also has Fast Charging capabilities that charge iPads and other mobile devices, as effectively as through a wall plug.

With support for UASP, the dock performs up to 70% faster than conventional USB 3.0, when paired with a UASP-enabled host controller to utilize the full potential of your SATA III hard drives. In testing* UASP performs with a 70% faster read speed and 40% faster write speed over traditional USB 3.0 at peak performance. At the same peak in testing* UASP also shows an 80% reduction in required processor resources. UASP is supported in Windows 8, Mac OS X (10.8 or above), and Linux.

With support for SATA I/II/III, large capacity drives (tested up to 4TB), and 2.5"/3.5" hard drives, this docking station is compatible with virtually any SATA hard drive, and increases the storage/backup capabilities of your computer. In addition, its configurable power management reduces energy consumption, and extends the life of your drives by avoiding unnecessary access. The docking station features a built-in 80mm cooling fan that helps to increase reliability and lifespan of HDDs, by keeping the drives cooler. Its variable fan speed control allows for adjustments for any type of HDD and can be used to balance cooling with noise.

You can extend the value of this docking station further with the addition of a SATA to IDE Hard Drive Adapter (SAT2IDEADP), allowing easy insertion of any 2.5"/3.5" IDE hard drive into a SATA hard drive dock.
