Hoya XEVA-58CPL overview

  • 1Description

The Hoya 58mm EVO Antistatic Circular Polarizer Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. This results in a noticeable increase in the saturation of skies and foliage, as well as clearer imagery when photographing in hazy conditions. A circular polarizer differs from a linear polarizer in that it supports full use of a camera's autofocus and auto exposure functions.

The EVO antistatic coating on this filter helps to repel dust, as well as water, scratches, and stains, and aids in making the substrate easy to clean. Additionally, a 16-layer Super Multi-Coating helps to reduce surface reflections and ghosting for maintained contrast and clarity. The optical glass filter is set within a two-piece low-profile aluminum ring, which lessens the likelihood of vignetting if used on a wide-angle lens. The ring also features front threads for attaching additional filters or lens caps.

Reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.
Arrange and filter directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light allowing for the absorption of much of the light.
Lessens haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.
Strongest effect when used at a 90° from the sun.
Optical glass construction and a 16-layer Super Multi-Coating provides 99.8% light transmission for maintained contrast and color fidelity.
EVO antistatic coating helps to repel dust and is also water, stain, and scratch-resistant. Additionally, this hardened coating is also easy to clean in order remove smudges or fingerprints.
Two-piece aluminum filter ring features a low profile to reduce the likelihood of vignetting when used on wide-angle lenses. Additionally, this ring incorporates front 58mm filter threads for stacking additional filters or attaching lens caps.

    Hoya XEVA-58CPL reviews

58mm EVO Antistatic Circular Polarizer Filter is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Will not fit on Canon 24mm f2.8 is I give this 4 stars because is looks like a well made polarizer but it will not stay screwed on a Canon 24mm f2.8 IS lens. Any other filter I have tried works great on this lens but the design on the Hoya has a lip on it that will not allow the threads to mesh with the Canon Lens. Only about a 1/4 thread will be used on the filter and the filter falls off. It is apparently a poor design of the Hoya and Canon combo. Beings all other filters I have tried works on this lens, I blame Hoya's design. I sent it back and ordered the same B&W that was on the lens but got scratched.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every penny Previous reviews mentioned difficulty screwing the filter onto the lens. The filter ring is indeed thin, but I had no difficulty in screwing it onto various lenses. Does a very nice job as a polarizer. Cut right through the water, and gave my greens and blues a nice pop. Stayed very clean, even around water and fine dirt, as many of my shots were low to the ground. Love it.
