Utilizing a multi-layer coating process for consistent color rendition from lens to lens the Rokinon 85mm T1.5 Cine DS Lens answers the challenge of assembling a set of lenses over time. The lens comes in Micro Four Thirds Mount and it features industry standard geared focus and iris rings that share common position with other Rokinon Cine DS lenses. To aid focus pullers who have to work both sides of the lens, the aperture and focus scales are marked on both sides of the lens.

This 85mm lens produces a 14.4° angle-of-view when used with Micro Four Thirds sensor cameras. Hybrid aspherical lenses render sharply defined images with a minimum of distortion and chromatic aberrations, with a minimum focus distance of 3'6" from the lens. A removable lens hood provides flare protection when shooting without a matte box and the lens's threaded front accepts 72mm filter rings.

Ultra Multi Coated lenses minimize flare and ghosting, and the lenses are color matched to a standard eliminating the need to acquire an entire set of lenses at the same time.
Industry-standard gearing for focus and aperture rings. Each lens in the Rokinon DS series share common focus and iris gear ring positions, which speeds up lens changes as accessories such as follow focus units or iris motors don't have to be re-positioned.
"Declicked" aperture ring for smooth iris pulls.
A removable lens hood provides flare protection without a matte box.
The lens opens up to T1.5, providing the capability for low light shooting or creating extremely shallow depth of field.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value lens/Super tight framing I'm using this for digital filming. Pros The picture quality coming off the lens is pristine for such a value. The build is great. Looking good in Low-light. Cons The crop on the that MFT sensor is super duper tight. I can live with it, but the frame is SUPER tight. I wasn't expecting that much of a crop. I'm some what of a novice when it comes to distance, frame size, and focal length. You have to learn some how and I guess I'm learning now. That's my only warning. I'm curious to see the framing from a 85mm with the EF mount on a MFT using a turbo adapter. Thinking I may have made out better with that combination. Nevertheless, I'll make it happen and work with this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really good! This lens is proof that advanced manufacturing techniques have allowed mere mortals to own some really decent glass. I own many Nikon lenses going back 40 years. When I began to transition into video last year, I become aware of cine lenses and their advantages. Of course, the prices were shocking. How glad I was to find the existing reviews on the Rokinon offerings that put them into the serious category. I have to agree. I picked this lens up on a B&H daily deal and am super impressed with the build and image quality. This thing has super smooth focus and aperture rings and it is tack sharp. This is not a technical review, per se. I'm just sharing my impressions after having used dozens of lenses in the wedding and portrait business. I'm just reporting that for the price, I can use this lens. It is not disappointingly soft like you might expect out of a sub-$500 lens. I would say it's a can't go wrong lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great 85mm lens for the price! My first impressions - wow this is a huge lens! How was this so cheap? It's extremely well constructed and very durable. The focus and aperture rings are very smooth as well. Great lens for close-up shots, or shooting subjects from far away. Exceptional bokeh as well! Of course the lens is very heavy for a MFT (again, it's big) but if you don't mind that, or if you're using a tripod, that shouldn't be an issue. Note: I bought a used version from B&H.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great lens for a great price. This lens is a great price for such a high quality piece of glass. When I bought it, I read a review somewhere that for like 8% of the price you're getting 80% of the quality from a lens from Canon with similar specifications. With that kind of price difference you really can't go wrong with this lens. The only fault is that the focus ring is a bit long, but it is incredibly smooth as is the aperture ring. Overall a 9/10.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing If you're looking for a fairly priced lens, without compromising quality, get this one. Sharp at 1.4, and focus ring is super smooth! Build quality is super. I'll get more Rokinon CineLenses. ??

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value Good value. Would buy in Canon mount and use an adapter if I were buying again, as the lens is totally manual so there is no loss of functionality with the adapter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great prime Sharp even wide open, and almost no chromatic aberration. In contrast to the Rokinon 24mm which gives me almost unusable footage wider than 2.8.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens For the money you can't beat this 85mm. I like it a lot. Gives me good sharp images.
