Utilizing a multi-layer coating process for consistent color rendition from lens to lens the Rokinon 85mm T1.5 Cine DS Lens answers the challenge of assembling a set of lenses over time. The lens comes in Canon EF Mount and it features industry standard geared focus and iris rings that share common position with other Rokinon Cine DS lenses. To aid focus pullers who have to work both sides of the lens, the aperture and focus scales are marked on both sides of the lens.

This 85mm lens produces a 28.3° angle-of-view when used with a full-frame sensor camera or a 35mm SLR. Hybrid aspherical lenses render sharply defined images with a minimum of distortion and chromatic aberrations, with a minimum focus distance of 3'6" from the lens. A removable lens hood provides flare protection when shooting without a matte box and the lens's threaded front accepts 72mm filter rings.

Ultra Multi Coated lenses minimize flare and ghosting, and the lenses are color matched to a standard eliminating the need to acquire an entire set of lenses at the same time.
Industry-standard gearing for focus and aperture rings. Each lens in the Rokinon DS series share common focus and iris gear ring positions, which speeds up lens changes as accessories such as follow focus units or iris motors don't have to be re-positioned.
"Declicked" aperture ring for smooth iris pulls.
A removable lens hood provides flare protection without a matte box.
The lens opens up to T1.5, providing the capability for low light shooting or creating extremely shallow depth of field.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE THIS LENS I've always used Canon gear as rental but this lens is incredible for the price, it really has a very good quality. I'm planning on buying the 12mm nano coated and the 35mm, and the thing about the DS line is that all lenses are coated so that each have the same color. Another thing I like about the DS line is that the aperture and focus rings are the same distance from the camera housing for every lens so I don't have to readjust the follow focus or matte box because the gears are in the exact same place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect starter cine lens i use this for small scale indie filming with a sony A7SII and a metabones mark IV adapter.in terms of overall quality, this is definitely a cheap professional lens, not an amateur lens.it's well built, it renders a very sharp picture, and it doesn't break the bank. is it the most perfect, most gorgeous lens ever? no, of course not. the focus breathes a little bit as you rack it, the focus and aperture rings aren't quite as tight as you might want them, the lens cap is fine but not really perfectly grippy... but it's more than good enough, it's flat out good. it would still be a deal at twice the price.until you can justify spending $$on a prime, this is a great way to go.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazed about'em. I'm photographer, mostly still images. Recently I've been doing cinematography and fashion video-productions. I'm using a BMD mini URSA 4k I purchasased Canon cinema lensees 14mm./ 50mm. and ZEEN 35mm. And been reading a lot about Rokinon cinema lenses, but I was incredulous abut the reviews that posicionating thias lenses high-up in quality, sharpness aand stuff. So I bought one to check it out and soon realized how well-made they're. In hands it feels very rough in aluminium body, the Iris and focus ring are super soft and the crystal are very bright and sharp. I can't believe the quality of this lenses for a cuarter -or less- of the price of the others. I highly recommend them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Quality This lense has a quality that even if you have seen example images of footage took with this lense still you feel amazed when you see your own stuff throught it, low light images are a walk in the park with this lense, the DOF is gorgeous and the issue that I once read about someone complaining and returning it because the min focus distance for this lense is around 3 feet is absurd, this is a lense for portraits, interviews and cinematic shots of closeups not a lense to get millimiters close to an object, if you want an object to look REAL close just buy the 135mm, diferent use. When talking about zoom lenses I will always go with Canon L Series but regard to Prime lenses between a Canon L Series and this I will always go with Rokinon, not just because of the price but I have used both and honestly love the look and sharpness of the Rokinons. Hope someday Rokinon can make a good zoom lense, I will buy it on a heartbeat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic lens, great price point I got this lens on the recommendation of a fellow cinematographer. He advised me that field reports of the lens said the only lens sharper was a Zeiss. I got it and love it. Very sharp, great quality glass, good sturdy lens case, gears work with my follow focus perfectly. De-clciked, smooth T-based aperture is smooth, but firm enough not to slip. Worth the price just there. Image quality is superb. Do some searches on YouTube for examples of you will see how good it is. Manual focus throw is long and smooth, as a cinema lens is supposed to be. Have found no issues that I have concerns with or downfalls. Highly recommend this lens and staying with their DS level Cine lenses, which are better quality than their non-DS lenses. Also have their 14mm lens, love it and will be investing in more Rokinon lenses.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful Image, Great Price If you're looking for a set of lenses that doesn't break your budget, I highly recommend the Rokinon Cine DS line. The 85mm is gorgeous for close ups, bohek is beautiful at lower T/Stops and it's an incredibly sharp lens. The only issue I found with the lens is the fact that the minimum focus distance is surpsrigingly far away. To combat this, I purchased a macro tube extension. This doesn't change the quality of the image and fixed the one problem I had with the lens. Overall, highly recommend. I used this lens (and the 50mm and 35mm on a Blackmagic URSA Mini 4.6K)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Lens for Cinematography I use this lens to shoot various projects including weddings and independent films. The image quality and clarity are fantastic and the manual focus is extremely smooth. The de-clicked aperture is great because it can be extremely fast and you are able to expose during recording, although I would stay away from that unless absolutely necessary. It is a little bulky, especially with a lens hood. Switching out lenses make take slightly longer and storing it in a bag may prove a little more difficult then with some other lenses. But it's definitely worth it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very impressive for use with Canon C1--mkll loving this lens as it is sharp, easy to set/control and delivers beautiful results for video. Although the camera can't read t-stops through the lens - it really doesn't matter for me. With de-clicked aperature, just set it where it looks good and can adjust on the fly. Depth of field is easy to control - and bokeh is quite pleasant in relief from sharp, stable in focus area. I'm using it more than I thought I would - preferring it, many times, over canon L series zoom glass for sharpness and ease of use.
