Rosco Fluorescent Paint Overview

One of the most eye-catching colorants you're likely to find, Rosco's green Fluorescent Paint glows vividly under ultraviolet light, creating a brilliant visual effect for use in design, artwork, stage productions, and other applications. When combined with other Rosco Scenic Paints, it makes those hues more vibrant.

This water-based, vinyl acrylic paint with matte finish is quick-drying, and can be applied to almost all surfaces once they've been properly cleaned and treated with a primer, such as Rosco's Tough Prime. Using a white basecoat will yield the most dramatic color effects. You can apply the paint with a brush, roller, or spray gun. Please keep in mind that it's best to keep the paint out of direct sunlight whenever possible, as prolonged exposure to UV light will cause a degradation in the pigment.

Paint does not cover well at all. Need 3 to 4 coats for complete coverage however its impossible to find a white UV paint that does any better. This paint does mix with other colors well to create great colors under black lights. But know if you buy it takes several coats but as do all other UV white paints

question

Is this paint just fluorescent green color or does it charge from sun and glow at night?

According to Rosco, this paint can glow under UV blacklight or can be combined with other Rosco scenic paints to make the colors look more vibrant.

question

Can this paint be made as a semi gloss or gloss?
Asked by: Anonymous
I wouldn't mix it with another normal color, or a Luminous color (that's the color that glows by itself in the dark) unless the other color is a FLURESCENT color as well, then mix away .... (these fluorescent colors shine bright in the dark when you shine black light on them) you can mix this color with any other fluorescent color. I also recommend sealing the color after, for example with a glossy transparent floor finish, since the color is ultra matte, but won't loose it's shine if you seal it with a transparent colorless glossy finish.

It is water based so it will wash off, and the sun will damage its UV effects.

question

Please keep in mind that it's best to keep the paint out of direct sunlight whenever possible, as prolonged exposure to UV light will cause a degradation in the pigment. Is there any (non-spray) clear sealant that might slow the degradation?
Asked by: Jan P S.
Hi Jan, there is. I'm a mural artist and used this product for stages. For murals to protect from UV rays I use a water base clear sealer that is for industrial use that is a brush on. I would think it would protect the fluorescent paint as well.
