Rosco Fluorescent Paint Overview

One of the most eye-catching colorants you're likely to find, Rosco's pink Fluorescent Paint glows vividly under ultraviolet light, creating a brilliant visual effect for use in design, artwork, stage productions, and other applications. When combined with other Rosco Scenic Paints, it makes those hues more vibrant.

This water-based, vinyl acrylic paint with matte finish is quick-drying, and can be applied to almost all surfaces once they've been properly cleaned and treated with a primer, such as Rosco's Tough Prime. Using a white basecoat will yield the most dramatic color effects. You can apply the paint with a brush, roller, or spray gun. Please keep in mind that it's best to keep the paint out of direct sunlight whenever possible, as prolonged exposure to UV light will cause a degradation in the pigment.

Terrible!

This paint is very thin and does not cover well at all. After painting one small wall with the entire gallon it was still streaky. Had to buy a different, better quality paint.

Extremely opaque and very over priced for the amount you get. You will need 3 coats for it to be solid.

Excellent Color - Will take Multiple Coats

Be sure to prime wall, will take multiple coats to cover surface at least 4 coats. Spraying would be evener than rollering. Possibly use a pink tint to primer. Color is Electric and Exciting when done. Color is absolutely what I expected, just a lot of work to get there.

Poor coverage but great mixer

Paint does not cover well at all. Need 3 to 4 coats for complete coverage however its impossible to find a white UV paint that does any better. This paint does mix with other colors well to create great colors under black lights. But know if you buy it takes several coats but as do all other UV white paints

question

Can this paint be made as a semi gloss or gloss?
Asked by: Anonymous
I wouldn't mix it with another normal color, or a Luminous color (that's the color that glows by itself in the dark) unless the other color is a FLURESCENT color as well, then mix away .... (these fluorescent colors shine bright in the dark when you shine black light on them) you can mix this color with any other fluorescent color. I also recommend sealing the color after, for example with a glossy transparent floor finish, since the color is ultra matte, but won't loose it's shine if you seal it with a transparent colorless glossy finish.

It is water based so it will wash off, and the sun will damage its UV effects.

question

Please keep in mind that it's best to keep the paint out of direct sunlight whenever possible, as prolonged exposure to UV light will cause a degradation in the pigment. Is there any (non-spray) clear sealant that might slow the degradation?
Asked by: Jan P S.
Hi Jan, there is. I'm a mural artist and used this product for stages. For murals to protect from UV rays I use a water base clear sealer that is for industrial use that is a brush on. I would think it would protect the fluorescent paint as well.

question

Can this paint be charged by the sun ?
Asked by: Teri C.
No, this product is fluorescent white paint, which can not be charged by any light, and it does not glow in the dark. This fluorescent product glows in the dark when illuminated by a blacklight bulb or blacklight neon bulb. The paint that glows in the dark after having been charged in either sunlight or normal light bulb light is called LUMINOUS GLOW IN THE DARK white paint, and is a different product than this FLUORESCENT paint product. This fluorescent paint product will make anything that you paint with it look like there is a lamp inside, but you need a blacklight to gain/achieve the effect. When illuminated with blacklight the Shine or glow of this color is quite strong and remains on as long as the blacklight is on. When selecting a blacklight, select a strong one, meaning high in Voltage and black light ray.

question

Does this comes with clear coat and reducer
Asked by: Anonymous
Ours did not. Nor do I recall any recommendations to use either products. Additionally, it was extremely difficult to use. The paint streaks horribly; overlapping causes the paint to come back off; it was not a fun time. We painted a second coat and the yellow turned orange!!
