    Sigma 150-600mm f/5.0-6.3 reviews

150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports Lens for Nikon F is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 51.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glad I traded my NIkon 200-500 f5.6VR for this Sigma Sport This is a solid and robust lens that can take a beating in the field, yet it is very sharp and fast in acquiring images. Yes is a bit bigger and heavier, yet I still have been able to get published images that were shot hand-held. AF works very fast with the D750, D810 and even older bodies such as the D700 and D300. I sued to have the 150-500 and upgraded to the Nikon 200-500. However, the Nikon is a nice compact lens, but its autofocus is not as fast as I need it to be for fast action images. I also got the teleconverter and when using a tripod and a remote control I have gotten images that rival these from my 800 mm prime .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Equal to Nikon Lenses or Better I have used nothing but Nikon Lenses for over 40 years and have all the top of the line lens over 30 of them. I keep updating them as new models come out. I decided to try this Sigma Lens after reading all of the reviews. I can say without hesitation that Sigma now belongs at the top of the list with their new lenses. The build and quality of the new 150-600 is one of the best lenses I have used. I am a believer in their new line. I have been waiting for Nikon to upgrade the 200mm micro but now that Sigma has a 180mm 2.8. I need wait no longer. That will be my next purchase. You can't go wrong with the new Sigmas. Believe the good reviews. I took a chance and am glad I did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this lens Perfect fit with my D750. I was using the Nikon 70-200 2.8 with the 2x teleconverter on my d7100 it gave me 600mm but when I sold my dx and went to full frame I found out quickly that 400mm was just to short for birding. So I decided to get this Sigma Sport 150-600mm and I am amazed at the quality of the pictures even better than the 70-200 with the converter and I have the extra 200mm. Yes the lens is heavy but once you see the amazing picture quality that you get you will soon forget about the weight. Focus with the D750 is incredible much better than hoped for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Lens Only got the lens a few weeks ago. Sold my Sigma 150-500 lens and I was blown away with the new lens build quality. This is definitely closer to Pro Glass than the Sigma 150-500 or the Tamron 150-600. Initial shots were awesome and I can't wait to get out into the bush and try it on some big game. It will be perfect for my kids sport too. Will have to wait and see about the aviation photography due to the weight of this big lens. It sure is heavy. The autofocus is dead quiet and very fast. Big surprise was my Sigma TC 1401 work perfectly with full autofocus control. Both my camera bodies ( Nikon D610 and D7100 ) was perfect. My TC1401 did not autofocus on my old Sigma 150-500. This lens will most definitely be close by my camera bag all the time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quite the Surprise Even though I own the latest Nikon AF-S 80-400mm zoom telephoto, I wanted to extend my reach further. I went into this purchase without having high expectations, having been previously disappointed by the Sigma 150-500mm. I was willing to give it a go, and if it proved not up to the task I would have returned it or put it up on @.Well what a difference! I can attest that this lens is quite responsive and extremely sharp, particularly at F/8. I have attached some images of fast moving ospreys and the lens locked in quickly and performed handsomely. Despite the heft of this lens, these were taken hand-held. That being said, having a monopod or a tripod with a gimbal would certainly be less tiring.Build quality is exceptional and it certainly has a profesional feel about it. I'm still going to keep my Nikon due to size, weight and portability, but this one will definitely have a special place in my arsenal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports Lens for Nikon F by Sigma I purchased this lens for photgraphing wildlife at a long distance. Also, I photograph using my tripod and and a gimbal head which makes it a whole lot easier with the 6.3 pound lens. I have hand held it, but for me that didn't last long. I also shoot in manual focus and I have control over the F-stop, shutter speed and I let the camera Nikon D-750 select the ISO for me as I shoot in all kind of weather and conditions which is why I selected the Sport model. It is easy to put the lens on the tripod and remove it with the quick release on my tripod. I had a ball joint head on my Vangaurd tripod and that didn't cut it for following wildlife, you must have a gimbal head. If there were any thing con about the lens in my opinion is ZERO!! The other reason I purchased this lens is the cost, quality. You won't go wrong if you purchase this lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazed for the Price I am amazed at the quality of this lens both optically and mechanically for the price. Sharp at all focal lengths even wide open. In fact, at 300mm it is somewhat sharper than my older Nikon 300mm F4D. Focus is fast, especially with the new firmware update. The OS works well, though I do not have much experience using long lenses with OS or VR. In the few weeks I have had this lens, I have really enjoy using it. I debated between the Sigma Sport and the new Nikon 200-500. I like the better construction of the Sigma and its greater reach. On the other hand, I was concerned about the weight of the Sigma. Well it is not all that bad to hand hold. And this is coming from an older guy. Still I will be using it mostly with a monopod or a tripod. I am debating about whether to use this with a long lens plate, currently using the short one from my Nikon 80-200, or with the Jobu replacement foot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Meets Expectations After several months backorder, the Sigma 150-600 arrived and I put it through a number of real world tests. I used a tripod for many of the tests in that the lens I found tipped the scale on what I could hold for any length of time. Being on a tripod, I did not need to use the built-in stabilization. What I did find, is with the higher shutter speeds I was forced to some pretty high ISOs which resulted in me using my D4s rather than my D810. The D4s handled noise much better than the D810. The results were quite amazing for a lens that costs so little when compared to the Nikon/Cannon counter parts. There were only minor Micro Adjustments needed using the USB dock (recommend purchase for fine tuning and customizing). The lens feels solid and is well made. If you have an Arca-Swiss head (i.e. RRS), you will need to add a quick release plate such as the Wimberley P50 which works great on the RRS ball heads. I was most impressed and look forward to putting this lens to professional use.
