    Sigma 150-600mm f/5.0-6.3 Reviews

150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens for Canon EF is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 206.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic lens This is a fantastic lens for the money. When stopped down to f8 it is extremely sharp. It is much sharper than the Tamron 150-600mm (which I owned for a year and sold after buying this lens). I am extremely impressed with this lens. Image quality at 600mm at f8 is much better than it should be. I love the focal length locks. I love the OS. The ability to use the dock and custom set the OS, the focus speed and focus limiter is great. Can't recommend this lens highly enough. It is the best $$I have ever spent. Remember to buy the dock as well. I have C1 set to focus priority and to dynamic OS. Sigma has hit it out of the park with this lens. Buy it and you will not regret it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for budget shooters, and good for probably everyone I enjoy taking bird and wildlife pictures. I own Canon DSLR's and I own a Sigma 150-500 OS DG lens. I was happy with the performance of that lens. I recently got a newer camera body and when I saw this lens I knew it would give me the extra reach I wanted. I bought it and I am very happy with the results. The attached photos were taken on a 20 degree day with 25 mph winds. I could barely stop shivering but the IS took care of that for me. It easily offers 1 1/2 to 2 stops better IS than the 150-500 I own. It's a great lens for people that like to take wildlife pictures but don't have the means to spend a couple of mortgage payments for a lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sports Lens I was using a 70-200 f/2.8 lens to capture sports and it just wasn't cutting it. I clearly needed more distance! After having read many reviews of this lens and competing lenses, I was sold that this was the one I needed. I've shot with it now at 5 different days of sports events and LOVE IT! I no longer have to be in someone's way to take the shot I want. I will warn you though, this lens is as heavy as a cannon. (no pun intended) You will want to use a monopod or tripod when shooting as this and the camera body together can make for big biceps! Big biceps and sore arms were not my goals so I used a monopod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Buy I bought this lens mainly for stationary bird shots with my 70D. I did not buy the dock, but may in the future just for the custom functions. It took me a couple of days to find the sweet spot with the 70D, but after making micro focus adjustments to a +3, it is dead on. With my 6D, it required no focus adjustments. I plan to use on a tripod most of the time, but I am really impressed with the optical stabilization on this lens. Very quiet and locks on in a reasonable time frame. Not great in low light, but I knew that going in. Sharpness at 600mm and f6.3 is more than acceptable and is great at f8. I could not be more pleased. It also came with a very nice carry case. Great value and dealing with B&H a pleasure as usual.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from After test over 2000 images in a keeper! The testing(many don't say) was with a 5Dmk4 and the 80D on everything from the attached Owl at 40ft, to Jupiter at 365million miles. The errors in focus was 95% operator error, others were in dark shadows etc.(My old Canon was not much better!!) Hand held, Tripod, Astro tracker, tested it with all ..DPrice so this one is a keeper. Side note, the Canon 1.4 works fine, used many time with the 80D for astro..Equals 1344mm with that cropped camera ! Also it auto focus at the F9 with the 1.4 ext. You must have a camera that NOW auto focus at F8, older cameras will not work !! Heavy?, only one pound heavier that the Canon 100-400..not a big deal!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a great lens. So glad I bought it. Having never owned anything longer than a 70-200 I was a little nervous going to shoot handheld with such a long lens. Walked around the park today and got some amazing pictures handheld at 600mm on my 7d mark ii. The bokeh is very different on this lens, almost like a wet paint instead of circles so pretty. With shots like this hand held, I can't wait to use my Manfrotto monopod or tripod. The lens is very well built if you are thinking that the build quality may not be so good since the Sport version is built like a tank, don't worry it is very solid, feels just like my Art lenses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boom Zoom Bazooka for the Moon I don't review too often, but I love this lens! Sharp at the far end of the lens. Used it for a few moon shoots as well as some stock footage of Hurricane winds and rain. This was paired with a Metabones Speed booster Ultra .71x as well as a dumb adapter EF to M4/3. Full Moon shot has the Metabones on and the Waning Crescent has the dumb adapter. Full moon also has been touched up whereas the crescent has not been touched yet. I'm very pleased with the results thus far. I plan on using this for surf footage, astrophotography, as well as wildlife. Best reach for the price! I only wish this was weather sealed, but I guess you get what you pay for!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent addition to add to all my Canon L Lenses I mostly purchased this for wildlife, birds, animals, hopefully a big bear. I have done very well handheld, even from a floating Kayak on the Delaware. I would have been better to be stationary with a tripod but when a Bald Eagle soars over your head with a fish in its talons, you shoot. Keep it f/8 or more, bump the ISO up for good shutter speed. Sharpness is great. I also was able to photography yacht races real up close even though they were a very far distance. One thing I did find, leaving a cold hotel room and venturing into the hot humid air, you can get condensation in the lens that takes time to clear. Build quality is excellent and the lens is sharp. Sure its a bit heavy but it adds a important capability that I did not have before.
