Ricoh iX100 Overview

From Manufacturer

Offered here in black, the battery-powered ScanSnap iX100 Wireless Mobile Scanner from Ricoh provides users with a Wi-Fi capable portable scanning solution for working almost anywhere. The iX100 features an optical resolution of 600 dpi for detailed image capture and can work with documents from 1 x 1" all the way to 8.5 x 34" in size. Speed is also not an issue with the ability to scan a document in just 5.2 seconds at up to 300 dpi.

The unit's wireless connectivity enables scanning over a network to computers or mobile devices running the ScanSnap Connect application. It can also detect networks and automatically connect to commonly visited networks once initially set up. A Direct Connect mode then allows users to scan wirelessly without an infrastructure network.

Other modes include a Dual Scan feature that will scan two smaller documents simultaneously, and automatic stitching of a two-page spread. Warm-up time is fast at <2 seconds from Ready and the USB-rechargeable lithium-ion battery will provide up to 260 scans from a single charge. Additionally, the iX100 has USB 2.0 connectivity for direct connection to a computer and scanning.

Automatic detection of color or black & white as well as correction for skew and orientation with blank pages removed
Straight paper path allows for scanning of thicker documents like plastic credit cards
Continuous Document Feeding function permits users to insert pages one after another for rapid scanning
Dual Scan feature automatically stitches a two-page spread when scanning a folded A3, B4, or double letter size document one side at a time. The image will be automatically stitched only if text or diagrams span across the two-page spread.
Quick Menu offers the ability to quickly change settings for different jobs such as scan to folder, email, print, mobile, or a variety of cloud services and applications
Scan to mobile devices and computers, including Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and Kindle devices, with the ScanSnap Connect application
Scan directly to cloud services like Dropbox, Evernote, Google Docs, SugarSync, Salesforce Chatter, and SharePoint Online
ScanSnap folder can act as a host folder for transmitting scans directly to your favorite applications
ScanSnap Manager V6.3 driver is included along with ScanSnap Organizer V5.2 (V1.1 for Mac OS), CardMinder V5.2, ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap 5.0, and Scan to Microsoft SharePoint

Replacement when I upgraded to the new Macbook Pro, expensive but works like a clock...However, disregard if you intend on using in WiFi mode, as it does not work.

Love this scanner, one of the only products out there which scans to mobile device without needing WIFI or a computer. Wireless setup direct to phone is a little tricky but don't give up - the key for me was to turn on the scanner power and scanner WIFI switch and then go into my phone's WIFI networks settings and create a connection to the scanner before doing anything else. Phone should 'see' the scanner WIFI signal and allow you to create the WIFI connection to the scanner (will need the SSID and password printed on the lable under the scanner). Great product, Take my money!

question

Does the scanner work for scanning photos?
Asked by: Anonymous
I apologize for the delay in answering. The question came while I was on vacation from my office, and I was not able to give an answer. My assistant and I have now copied a photo to try it out. The photo copied very nicely. The scanner is a very handy little piece of equipment.

How is the scan quality for documents, when compared to a flat bed scanner? I ask since I mainly need to scan documents and print them, and the scanned print must be very good. how do the other brands compare? (brother, epson)
Asked by: Umesh
ScanSnap hardware and software are by far the best! Scan quality can be adjusted with the software. Software is loaded with scanning, saving and editing options. Don't bother spending $ on the other scanners.

Will this scan hard id cards such as a drivers license?
Asked by: Jason
Yes, as long as they are not embossed, and you do not flip up the rear paper guide so the paper path is flat.

question

when scanner is solid light, works fine. Sometimes, power light is blinking why does it not allow scanning?
Asked by: Shannon M.
I've never seen the battery light flash blue. The big lighted button on top for scan/stop will flash blue. Maybe uninstall and re-install with the CD Rom and also the ScanSnap app from the playstore and start over?? Other than that, try the support at Fujitsu dot com. I'm sorry I wasn't able to solve - I'm just a user, I love the scanner though!
