Benro VT2 Reviews

Well built but screw was wrong size

The male screw that goes into the monopod was larger than the threaded female on my monopod. My mistake for not being more careful.

Very Sturdy; works great

Thought I would try the lower price model, and this base is as sturdy as one would want to do the job. I can use my Gitzo monopod to rest with my Ronin rig and also use this with my 360 3D camera for virtual tour shots without tripod legs getting in the way of the 360 view. This is all you need.

Increased stability - secure footing

This is an excellent addition, especially for the price. Enhance your monopod stability, yet allow for easy and smooth tracking of birds in flight. Only mod: I added a lock nut to secure the base to the bottom of the monopod. Better than the small flat foot on my Benro monopod which, while better than a simple rubber foot, caused minor jerky panning movements.

Bought it for a Carbon Fiber Benro monopod. Seems well made. Gives a little added security when using it. Takes some of the weight off your hand and arm.

I bought this for my Benro FGP18A. Now I have a tripod and a monopod with 3 Leg Locking base. Not recommended for heavy lens combination, but still good

My old Benro monopod foot broke after several years of heavy use. I ordered a new replacement one, and was pleasantly surprised to see the new replacement was bigger and sturdier than the old one.

What's the max load capacity?

What's the max load capacity?
Asked by: Bill
This is a multi-faceted topic. The answer could vary by a factor of ten, from several pounds down to just a few ounces. I have used this monopod base to hold a heavy DSLR with 70-200... and I've used it with a phone. It's worked with both of those. However... Using this base indoors, I have left the phone standing by itself, on a monopod with medium-weight fluid head. But working outdoors -- with the same monopod, head and base -- I would not let go of a DSLR for even one second! Effective load capacity of the base includes several variables that are controlled by you, the user. The main ones are the tightness of the adjuster bolts, and the load leverage. The tighter that you make the adjuster bolts (see the instructions for the bolt locations), the higher the effective load capacity. The closer that the load is to the base, both vertically and horizontally, the higher the effective load capacity. Other factors are controlled by the manufacturer. Those include the length of the legs on the base and the materials used in the various pieces of the base. Every product is a compromise. Longer legs will increase load capacity, because they resist tipping more than short legs. Heavier and higher quality materials will increase load capacity, in part because they resist bending, and in part because they can be tightened more. Finally, the load capacity of an assembly is the capacity of the weakest link. Good luck!
