Canon NB-13L reviews

NB-13L Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (3.6V, 1250mAh) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 71.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works... of course. I know there are 3rd party batteries out there that would fit my Canon camera, but when it comes to Lithium based batteries, I believe it safety first. While I am not sure I have seen it explicitly stated, I am absolutely sure the Canon branded batteries have protection circuitry built-in to protect again overcharging and undercharging... two things that could be fire hazards if missing... I have no confidence that 3rd party batteries have this even if explicitly stated they do (I saw a YouTube video of a battery which said it had protection but did not actually have it, so the manufacturer lied). To sum it up, the battery works fine, of course, and the extra cost is a small price to pay for the guaranteed safety inherent in name brand products.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Probably Worth the $$$ to Avoid the Hassle Canon has required electronics in batteries to show battery charge level for years. Now they also give you warnings when not using Canon batteries. It was unclear which if any of the third-party NB-13L batteries avoided these messages. Unless going very cheap of unknown quality most third-party batteries are still not that cheap. In the end, the cost of the Canon battery was about $20 extra per battery, and we figured it was worth the difference to have one we knew would be fully compatible. They also come with nice plastic covers to use in transport.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works. I need it. Shame on Canon for ripping us off. The camera I got this for (G5X) is a great little camera with a terrible little battery. It is too small for its intended use. Having a second battery is a necessity, not an option. So considering that as good as this camera is, it still priced very high for what you get, PLUS you MUST spend another $44 to have a useful setup. Thus should be a $15 battery but Canon knows you have to buy it from them so they take full advantage of you on the pricing. I am NOT happy about that. Buy a Wasabi once they sort out the code.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely necessary for extended use and/or travel I should start by saying that I firmly believe in having more capacity than I believe I may actually need. In my humble opinion, it is always better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. I recently purchased a Canon Powershot G5X and at the same time I purchased four of these batteries as spares. I had read that I could expect between 200 and 250 exposures before needing to recharge th battery or install a fresh one. That estimate is spot on. When traveling, or on vacation, it is not uncommon for me to shoot four or five times that number in a day. In my humble opinion, it is not only a good idea but a necessity to have several of these in your kit bag when you venture out with this camera. That is my only disappointment with this camera/battery combination.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works like it should - has end cap When I received my new Canon G5X camera, the NB-13L battery that was included in the box did not have a cap on the contact end of the battery. I later found that this was standard now. When I am out with the camera, I like to always have a spare battery with me, charged and ready to go, but i also like having a cap on the end of it. Fortunately when I bought the spare battery, it came wth a cap, whch keeps the contacts clean while in a pocket or camera bag. Problem solved !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it's supposed to. but expensive Canon needs to get the price down on these, so that we're not so tempted to buy the Wasabi or other off-brand, lower-performance battery packs. These really are worth two of the aftermarket ones. (experience speaking) Travel light and get the original, and have less risk of burning your house down, too. With the latest cameras charging by USB, they're not as necessary; you can just have one spare, and carry a USB cord and use it just about anywhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Canon NB-13L batteries I bought these for the new Canon G7X camera. Depending on how much you use the flash or review images, change settings, etc. the Canon G7X will provide maybe 200-310 shots. Don't waste your time buying cheaper non-Canon batteries. They won't hold a charge after maybe a year so spend the money and get genuine Canon batteries. No negatives as they're so small you can carry 1-2 spares and shoot all day long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Service I bought my camera and the battery came with it. I bought the camera for a trip that my wife and I were going. The battery just didn't take a charge. It only afforded me 225 photos and then it had to be recharged. I my next trip the battery gave only 70 photos. I told this it to the B&H phone rep and the next day a new battery was delivered to my house with no cost for shipping. Excellent product back- up
