Vello LH-49 Dedicated Lens Hood
Key Features
  • For Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital ED 60mm f/2.8 Lens
The dedicated Vello LH-49 Lens Hood is specifically designed for use with Olympus's M.ZUIKO Digital ED 60mm f/2.8 lens. It is primarily used to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of it. A dedicated hood is crafted to perfectly suit the specific focal length of the lens it is designed for. Additionally, this hood features a non-glare matte finish on the interior surface to further prevent or limit lens flare. Also, since the end of the lens is extended, you get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

question

Hi, I have bought one of these Vello LH-49 hoods, it does not slide for storage / use smoothly at all... in fact I have to be pretty violent with the hood to get it moving on my lens which is not at all ideal... do I just have a lemon hood or is this normal for this hood...? Could anyone who has this hood let me know how smoothly it operates on their lens please? Thanks =)

A POSITIVE follow up for the Vello Hood on my 60mm Oly lense - while new I found it hard to slide, however it has freed up with use and slides well now. I like that the hood can be pushed back over the lens for storage without having to remove it. A good buy =)

question

can this hood be put on in reverse for storage?
Asked by: CRAIG L.
By design it retracts completely on the lens so you do not have to put it on reverse. I tried anyway but did not succeed. May be I did not try correctly but in any case it would not be easy! But because of the retracting design you do not have to do that in any case. It retracts completely just by pushing it back. Putting it reverse would not buy you anything in term of length of the lens. It is a pretty nice design, very convenient to operate.
