    Westcott 5571 reviews

Illuminator Arm Extreme is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good enough I really wanted a sturdy reflector holder/boom, and after looking at several this seems like the best of the bunch. I wish the knobs and fittings seemed a little more... professional quality, even on an item like this. The high points are the boom actually seems to stay attached to a light stand the best of all I tried, and they've made the boom arm cleverly so that by moving a clip to either side of the light stand I can center a reflector of good size (42) without needing a counterweight. It's also possible to move it all to one side like any other boom. And speaking of the clips, they're nice and wide and really grab the reflector.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than a reflector holder This device is as much a mini boom as it is a reflector holder, which is why I have ordered a second one. For smaller flash units, this makes for a nice travel boom for speedlites, quadras and any other new breed of light flash heads.I also plan to use it as a background holder - it is just the perfect lenght collapsed to go into a compact travel lighting kit. The price is higher than most other units in this category, but its multi-purpose design and the fact that most vital parts are made of metal makes it worth the little extra expense in my opinion. I believe in buying right once.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent boom I wanted to buy this for my reflector but ended up buying it as a boom because I needed one badly and reviews here were saying it's good for that. Excellent results and super quick set up time. I do not need a counter weight but it has holes for that at the other end. I'm sure a more expensive item will be more durable but it looks solid. I'm afraid to store it squeezed up against to a super heavy duty tripod but I trust it in operation. Only one suggestion: as a boom, it comes only in black and that shows in the catch lights if it goes trough a soft box. bare aluminum would be better for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked much better than expected After reading several so-so reviews here my expectations were lowered. I purchased this arm to go with the Omega Reflector. Despite what other reviews have said the clips hold up the Omega Reflector just fine. I have not tried to use the arm outdoors as it is rather windy in Oregon during the summer. I will say that it is more than up to the task when being used indoors. I have found that the product works better with the Omega reflector when it hangs front he clips. rather than what is shown in the product image. A small sandbag is needed to counter balance the weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like it so much I intend to buy a second one! I purchased a Phottix Reflector Holder K, but just didn't like the design of the product. I decided to return it, and give the Westcott Illuminator Extreme a try. Wow! What a difference in quality and versatility. The Westcott is solidly constructed, and can be used to hold a variety of different sized and shaped reflectors. It can also be used to hold large (59x78) collapsible backgrounds and diffusers. If you're shopping for a good reflector holder look no farther.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works as well as can be expected Bought it to use with the Omega Reflector, which is fairly heavy. The combination work OK unless it is windy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great versatile arm Great, versatile, multi purpose arm. I use it to hold reflectors, gobos and flags. You can also attach lights to it. It's very adjustable to get the angles you want. Pretty well built, I have no issues with it and do recommend it. Price could always be a little better but... Peace!
