    Westcott 2050 reviews

32" Rapid Box Duo Speedlite Modifier is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Almost great Almost a great softbox with one flaw that should be easy for Westcott to fix. It's the knob that allows you to tilt the softbox at various angles. Even umbrella swivel brackets use a sturdy handle so you can tighten the tilting part firmly. I struggled with this Rapid Box Duo tightening it when I put it on a stick for an assistant to hand-hold it at an angle. It creeps downwards and it's difficult to tighten it. Unfortunately, I had to return the box because of it. When on a lightstand, it's ok and seems to hold up. Everything else about this box is great. Well made and great light. The size of this box is also an enigma to me. The packaging box clearly states that it should be 32in diagonally and I measured only 29.5in diagonally at the widest point. Westcott, please put a good metal swivel handle and not a puny knob so the tilting mechanism holds in place when I run around with it on location!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding! Portability meets quality! Outstanding design - reminds me of my PC Buff studio softboxes. Very compact when folded, 30 seconds to set-up on location. Exactly what I've been looking for. Fits very nicely in my 1610 pelican case along with another softbox and other lighting gear. I use this for headshots on location and it's a fantastic softbox with great soft light and beauty dish diffuser if you want it. Frankly I Use the beauty dish diffuser inside along with on-flash diffuser and both baffles to get the softest light I can and reduce any kind of hotspots. 32 is just big enough for shoulder and up headshots. I previously used the XP 28 Dodecagon box as my main light and wanted something softer that could fit 2 speedlights and this was the ticket. I now use the XP 28 as my hair/rim light and the combo is excellent, especially for shooting portraits outdoors, on the go. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from use two speedlights Worked out how to fit two speedlights into the duo, simply bend the flash mount forward by approx, 20mm. Two flashes and receivers fit easily. Two photos are supplied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect size for travel. I use the 32 Rapid Box Duo mainly for portrait's, but it is really light enough to take out in the field on the end of a monopod or small boom. The thing's I really like about it are, it is very light weight, and it is so easy to set up and take down. It come's with it's own bag, which is great and has more than enough room for the deflector plate to travel with it. The light quality is very consistant across the front panel, and with the optional deflector plate you can use it just like a beauty dish. It also gives you the ability to feather your lighting, and control where it goes. I am very pleased with my purchase and the results in my photo's. If your looking for simplicity and easy setup with a great modifier, I don't think you can make a wrong choice by picking 32 Rapid Box Duo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every dime I am someone with seven years of video production experience, but am venturing out into starting a photography side business. After much research I find 32 Rapid Box provides a very soft light and wide at that. Learn to direct the light at angles if you desire to limit the spill, or invest in flags. The product lives up to the name.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from modify bracket Having just finished the the mod to flash mount bracket, will try it out this afternoon.Bend the flash mount forward roughly 20mm if you have receivers. Mr Westcott might start bending the bracket as an option. Hope this helps. Michael.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Lighting and Well Built This is a great softbox for those who do not have the money to invest in studio strobes and who want portability. The softbox is very well made - metal supports all the way through (not plastic or fiberglass). The brackets are heavy and have a sturdy feel. The lighting options are a plus with the included inner baffle. I also purchased the Deflector disk. It just adds options - basically making the softbox a beauty dish. I have used it with one flash and two flashes - I found for certain portraits one flash was more than sufficient for some of the low key shots I was taking. I would have given it 5 stars except the flash mounting bracket area is not flash trigger friendly. Meaning to mount one or two flashes with a radio trigger under them is a bit of a contortion act. I was finally able to work my way through it - although at times I was not able to access the control panel of the flash due to its position in the bracket. Yes you can use optical slave on one of the flashes (if you have two mounted) but the spacing is then off as one flash is taller than the other (due to the radio trigger). This creates light leak (even though there is a drawstring bonnet to close around the flashes). The bonnet is a great idea - but using flashes with radio triggers defeats that great idea. Wescott - next time make the bracket spacing larger to accommodate for radio triggers on the speedlights.
