Manfrotto MT190X3 overview

  • 1Description

This B&H Kit includes the Manfrotto 502AH Pro Video Head and the MT190X3 Aluminum Tripod. The 502AH features a flat base and 15.5 lb payload, and the tripod offers a max height of 63" with the center column raised. The standard max height is 53".

  • Manfrotto MT190X3 Aluminum Tripod

The Manfrotto MT190X3 Aluminum Tripod is an addition to the popular 190 series, adding a Quick Power Lock System, ground level adapter, and an Easy Link attachment. It can hold up to 15.4 lb of gear, and has a maximum height of 63". The ground-level adapter replaces the center column to allow the tripod's mounting plate to sit just 3.5" above the ground with the legs at their widest angle.

The QPL system allows the three leg sections to be completely extended with one hand for simple set up. An Easy Link adapter attachment allows instant connection between tripod and accessories, such as LED lights for macro photography and DSLR video applications using Manfrotto articulated arms and brackets. Each leg can be set at four different angles to accommodate uneven ground or rough terrain.

  • Manfrotto 502AH Pro Video Head with Flat Base

The Manfrotto 502AH Pro Video Head with Flat Base is an affordable yet remarkably fully featured professional head that represents an advance over the popular 501HDV, with sturdier construction and featuring Manfrotto's patented bridging technology (inherited from the 509 and 504 heads). This head is designed for executing cinematic moves with compact camcorders and DSLR video cameras. The 502AH comes in two versions—the "AH" flat-base version such as this, and the "A" ball base version which is separately available.

The weight capacity is 15.4 lb and counterbalance supports 8.8 lb. The balance plate's 3.27" range allows you to correct for uneven payloads due to matte boxes or DSLR rig configurations.

The bridging technology ensures that the pan friction control is intuitive and easy to set, but also protected against knocks. There are independent locks for pan and tilt, and drag for both is selectable in a continuous range from zero to the max level. This allows you to operate the head in a confident, smooth manner using the included pan bar.

Pan drag and tilt drag are continuously adjustable from 0 (no drag) to the maximum level
Sliding quick release plate secured by secondary safety system

Manfrotto MT190X3 reviews

502AH Video Head & MT190X3 Aluminum Tripod Kit is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sticks On Stones! Thanks to in depth conversations with our ever helpful and knowledgeable friends at B&H- once again- we are happy to let all of you know that our new MT190X3 Tripod and 502HD Pro Video Head Kit are seeing some challenging and excellent service- right out of the box! The San Juan Mountains of Colorado are about as extreme and harsh an environment on the face of planet earth for testing video and photo equipment. Which is inevitably what we end up doing at first light and often on through past twilight doing our wildlife and other back country shoots- all seasons of the year. Pretty as a picture- wish you were here!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would definitely buy this again. I purchased the 502HD Pro Video Head Kit after returning a cheaper tripod also purchased from B and H. This is the video head I was really after. The adjustable drag on both pan and tilt is fantastic. Super smooth fluid performance and the legs adjust all the way down to the ground. I use this feature constantly. The head is spring loaded to keep it from accidently tilting down and I thought this might be problematic but it adds a level of safety when you are moving fast and take your hand off the tripod handle without tightening it down. It is one of my favorite features now. The head is rather large and my little dslr setup looks funny sitting on that big plate but it's very stable and works great. I know I will use it with larger cameras in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent build, sturdy, smooth operation, great height Fantastic tripod with a great build. Yes, it's a little on the heavier side, but honestly, I just extend the arm over my shoulder, angle it and I can move through a crowded gig space with no issue whatsoever. The setup time is fast and the versatility for height is phenomenal. The fluid head comes in a separate box and it was very easy to install. It works extremely well on the tripod. You can also use the head on a few other manfrotto products as well as on sliders (I use an Ikan slider, works great with it). I used to have a dinky tripod that did the job, but I've noticed clients take me more seriously and it feels good to have a quality tripod that you can break down, move, get your shot with, and move on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fluid Head Tripod Combo This is a great tripod fluid head combo. The fluid head gives you precision control over pan and tilt drag so you can easily adjust tensions or just lock the head down. I tried a cheaper $200 Benro tripod and head package before purchasing this, and it doesn't even come close to the smoothness you get here. The tripod itself is super sturdy. I love how the flip locks snap into place and hold firm. The only con I can see is weight if you're using this on the go a lot. It won't work for travel as it does have some heft to it, which makes it more stable. This wasn't an issue for me so I give it 5 stars without reservations and would absolutely recommend it to a friend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great with 1 caveat With the 502HD head you really get a great tripod for the price. High-end, professional features at a decent price. I like everything except that I had to purchase Manfrotto video pins separately. 99% of consumer cameras will need these and they are NOT included.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent, Affordable, Quality, Solution for Video I am very pleased with this purchase. First, the tripod is perfect. Very durable, easy to quickly adjust. Couldn't ask for more. Second, the tripod head is great and I don't know of any other head at this price point that can come close. To me, it's only flaw is that there's a very slight rubber banding (for lack of a better term) that can occur when you reach the end of your panning motion. Meaning, if you have a good amount of resistance set on the pan and you pan to the left, it will be very fluid, but when you let off the pressure, it will come back a degree or so to the right. Same scenario occurs when panning in the opposite direction. Also, some people have complained about the lock being on the right hand side. I don't find this to be an issue. The panning arm can be mounted on either the right or left, so I've mounted it on the left and use my left hand to pan and my right hand to lock/unlock, as well as operate the camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wildly happy Spent a LOT of time researching tripods for video use and decided on this one. Couldn't be happier! For the price it's outstanding. Very fluid with zero sticking which was my number one worry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very versatile Legs go fairly high and tall enough for most application when you extend the center column. Better part is how crazy low it goes. Lower than any tripod I've used. You can remove the center column and use the attachment (located on the bottom of the center column) to get just a few inches off the ground. I also like the flip locks on the legs. Makes it very quick to adjust and level. Head is pretty good for price. You can get some very smooth slow pans and tilts. The spring counterbalance may present some slight annoyances on tilting up and down if you have a very light setup. It's not variable at all so it will be fighting you if you don't have enough weight. The flat base head is great because I can use it on my slider. Overall I would recommend it highly. I don't know that $1000 or more setup would get me any better shots for my needs. And having all the versatility this offers is great.
