Does it work well with a full shoulder rig? Im used to ball head tripods with wider legs.
The determining factor is the weight of the full shoulder rig you have or are considering. This will take 13 lbs with 8 lbs counterbalancing ability. If you rig weighs in that range, it is a good choice. If not, you must consider a video head and tripod of greater capacity.

The length of each leg from the center is as follows:
One stage: 11 inches
Two stage: 18 inches
Three stage: 26 inches

Can the center column be removed or replaced with ...
Can the center column be removed or replaced with something shorter in order to go as low as the legs are able to?
Yes. If you look at the bottom of the center column, you'll see a triangular base platform. Release the platform, pull out the center column, use the triangular platform as the base, and screw your head onto it. Voila!

All measurements and specifications that come in the documentation included with the tripod is listed in both Metric and Imperial measurements. On the actual tripod, there are not any measurements.
