Behringer XR18 overview

  • 1Description

The X Air XR18 from Behringer is a 18-input portable rack-mountable mixer for iPad and Android tablets. It can be used for both live and studio environments in applications such as live stage, theater, houses of worship, rehearsals, and more. It features sixteen Midas-designed mic preamps and an integrated Wi-Fi module for wireless control, giving you the ability to move around and manipulate all parameters of your mix. Furthermore, it has USB connectivity for file storage and future system updates. The built-in USB stereo recorder can record your live tracks uncompressed directly to your iPad or PC. You can then dial in a monitoring mix with effects and zero latency, while sending your stereo mix and the keyboard player's MIDI notes to your DAW for recording.

The X Air XR18 has additional features included as well, such as the MIDI in/out jack for controlling the mixer via MIDI equipment using Mackie control protocol via a live performance controller. This mixer also comes with several Behringer effects, such as a Leisure compressor and leveling amplifier, mid/sides Fair compressor, a 5-band Combinator compressor, modulation delay, Sub Octaver, and an Edison EX1 that allows you simple manipulation of the stereo field. Finally, the XR18 includes a Sound Maxer and a dimensional chorus effect, which can help you to restore natural brilliance and clarity to the original audio signal. Whether you're recording in the studio, or you want to capture intimate live performances, it's never been easier to record professional-sounding tracks with clarity.

4 Onboard X32 Effects Engines
The onboard virtual FX Rack provides access to four true-stereo (8 mono), multi-effects processors including delay, chorus, dynamics - plus the XR18 can run production-quality, true-stereo reverbs concurrently with 31-band EQ on the main and aux buses, all without the need for any additional hardware
X AIR gain Sharing technology can easily manage fully automated mixes with several live microphones. Dugan Auto-Mixing automatically manages microphone gain sharing (future firmware)

100-band Real Time Analyzer for all channels and bus EQs

Rack ears and protection bumpers included for flexible rack and onstage applications

    Behringer XR18 reviews

X Air XR18 18-Input Digital Mixer for iPad/Android Tablets with Wi-Fi and USB Recorder is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best digital mixer/interface for the money! I bought the XR-18 as an alternative to lugging around my larger digital mixer and rack mounted interfaces and have no regrets! Sound quality is great, the multiple control options are a plus and wireless control with an external router is secure and rock solid. The USB interface works great with Studio One 2 Pro. The EQ's, dynamics and effects are useful but I would like to see channel inserts for external processing favorites that I use in the studio and live. Doubling the channel and aux count would also be a nice touch. Overall, you cannot go wrong with the power and performance the XR-18 provides at this price point!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great, I've used the XR12 and XR18 and they both work great. I used them for permanently installed sound systems. Everyone keeps complaining that they drop connection at critical times over wifi. Well duh. Wifi is a junk regardless of manufacturer and is the first thing to fail when your audience (all packing smart phones) show up. Hardwire your stuff or expect failure. The automix works great though read up on how it works. Would I use this as a critical live mixer? Nope, that is where I break out an X32 where I have physical controls and don't have to depend on an app. But for installed sound these things are great and cheap.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product but... I have had the chance to use this little mixer for about 3 months now and for the most part it works great. By that I mean the preamps sound reasonable, outputs function as they should and USB connectivity is fine. However, the integrated wireless unit seems to be garbage. Even from my units first gig I had some issues of reliability where the connection to the mixer would drop and not return unit the mixer was restarted, not good. This seems to be a recurring issue with these mixers, my fix was to purchase an external access point and use the network connection on the mixer. Since then I haven't had a problems. For the price, even with purchasing an access point these are a hard deal to beat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gran producto. Gran buen precio.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product ... Would buy again Very good sounding , nice preamp . Combine so many rack gears like EQ, Comp, Gate, Verb, Delay unit into one small unit . software easier to use than the X32 . Very simple set up , you can even save presets for diff gigs . A+

Rated 4 out of 5 by from App not Stable, yet. Love the design. Love the product. Rock solid. The app is DESIGNED well, it just isn't the most stable at the moment. I'm confident Behringer will have new versions and updates rolled out over the next 90 days and this will be a great product. We purchased one of the first ones we could get our hands on so I'm sure this is just an early bug. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All bands should own this I have had mine now for about 8 months. It's an amazing device; the bang for the buck, the sound and functionality is a plus. However, the wifi functionality is unreliable, I found that out at a live event when I lost control and feedback went wild and I couldn't control it. Since then I have been using xair with my macbook pro via ethernet. I plan on connecting to it with an external wifi router as suggested by other users. I was on the verge of purchasing the Mackie 1608 until I discovered the Xair, I'm so glad I bought the Xair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these units This is the second Behringer X Air XR18 we have gotten for our church. First one was for our fellowship room (3 years ago) now we are replacing a very old system in our chapel. I love their versatility the operator can sit anywhere they choose to operate the PA. Now with the PC Software you can set up a computer to control it as well. I am hoping they update the software so you can make it fit your screen side to side and top to bottom. Right now I have to scroll up and down in order to see everything.
