Kessler Crane TH1004 overview

  • 1Description

The Kessler Crane K-Pod Tripod is a heavy-duty 100mm bowl system weighing a sturdy 22 lb and offering a 500 lb load capacity. It's designed to be suitable for cranes and standard tripod applications and is upgradeable for use on dolly tracks. A good choice for a head is the Kessler Crane Hercules 2.0, which supports a 150 lb payload.

The K-Pod Tripod features rigid double strut legs with Kessler's incremental Posi-Lock System that friction locks the legs as well as interlocks into incremental lock pockets. The lock pockets allow you to equally position the legs while providing a lock that will prevent any accidental slips from the lock position. The K-Pod also includes a pop-lock spreader that locks the legs in a pre-stressed position to eliminate instability in heavy load conditions, and acts as the frame system when the tripod is used in various dolly configurations. The legs are made of black-anodized aluminum and have a flat design with a powder-coated finish designed to prevent scratching and wear.

Kessler offers a wide range of accessories that upgrade the K-Pod Tripod for multiple uses in standard tripod and dolly system applications. The K-Pod comes with standard spin-out pad feet but can be upgraded with spiked feet, caster wheels, all-terrain wheels, dolly trucks, dolly seats, pushbars, and other K-Pod system accessories.

K-Pod Tripod System is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like a military machine Very heavy-duty load, ULTRA stable tripod system! Like a russian military machine, but... with american finest quality. The shots are non-shaked with 135 mm lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong, capable tripod base Long after humans have disappeared from the earth, this tripod will still be supporting my crane. Seriously strong, well built.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great addition to my Kessler arsonal I already own a small Kessler crane, and their Hercules head, connected with their superbly sturdy quick release system. I tried using a locally sourced (Australia) Manfrotto 20kg rated tripod to save money, but it was a false saving. One leg clamp slid down while I had a crane, weights, camera, monitor and pan/tilt head attached! Adjusting with an Alan key fixed it, but made me nervous about future wear and slippage. An urgent order through to B&H and the super solid K-Pod arrived. It is heavy - for a reason. Sturdily built with indented stops for the legs prevent any chance of slippage. After all, it is built to carry a person on a seat with their K-Flex add-on dolly system. Only one slight quibble. The soft bag doesn't fully close near to the tripod leg knobs. Perhaps this will change after the bag has been used for a while and gets more flexible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product ! I use the Kessler K-Pod tripod system with the Hercules 2.0 head to hold a Stealth slider (Standard 39.5 length), which has a Second Shooter motion control on it. This tripod is built like a tank, very stable, easy to use, and certainly indestructable !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The heavy duty tripod you need This piece can handle all the weight you need, and is built to last. A perfect combination with the Kessler pocket jib series. Grab the all-terrain wheels as well to make this fully mobile in all situations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A+ tripod system You'll see a lot of comments about how this system is built like a tank. I don't necessarily think so. Now, no offence against tanks but I think this tripod system might survive an HE round better than most tanks! Okay, so I didn't test this particular conjecture but suffice to say it's heavy-duty! The other thing I really like about it is the concept of the lock pockets. I didn't know if I'd like them or not but what it does is makes it really easy to raise and lower the legs to a consistent length. Naturally, you can't set the legs precisely to a desired length, as you can't set it between the lock pockets - but there are enough of them to get close to any desired length that I'll likely need. And, with the bowl you can easily set the head to true (I'm using the Hercules 2.0 head.) The heavy duty nature of the system allows me to easily, quickly and securely move between my Kessler slider or any number of cameras. This requires the use of the Kessler Kwik release system - and I highly recommend that as well. All in all, I'm extremely happy with the purchase. Not the lightest system out there but definitely among the sturdiest and most secure. If you want to attach a slider (mine is 3') and not worry about wobble, this system will work well for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stout enough for whatever Made right. Stout enough for whatever I want to mount to it, crane/jib, slider, camera head. The only thing I would improve is a way to lock the legs in closed position for transport, instead of the included strap. reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Crane Support I bought this tripod and the Kessler 100mm Ball Kit to support our Gluidecam Camcrane 200, after considering a number of alternatives. This set up is solid, and handles the weight and the inertia of the crane. Very Satisfied.
