Canon EF-Mount BEWARE

To anybody looking at this with a Canon EF mount, please read this. LensCoat does not provide instructions for assembly for this model of the lens cover. Their only instructions for this lens apply to the Sony mount which has the lens collar tension knob in front of the switches and focal length display. I received a kit without hole cutouts for my tension knob and had a fair deal of confusion as to why the instructions did not seem to align. I realized the diagram of the pieces on the header of the instructions does not align with the layout of my lens! Awaiting a response from LensCoat explaining why this is the case. As we can all see, the photo on this product clearly covers the tension knob of the lens, however, the kit I received only has an adhesive strip that I am assuming means a DIY solution to fit that part of the lens. Again, awaiting confirmation from LensCoat direct. Whatever the answer is, so be it, I just wish that there was a clearer representation of what the assembly expectation is considering this is a $100+ product. Not disappointed with the quality or function. It fits snug and clearly performs as advertised (albeit the photos show a tolerance much tighter than what I seem to have). My issue is that the representation of the product and its instructions poorly reflect what you receive. For a product of this caliber, I expect better.

Poor product

question

Will it fit the Contemporary Lens version? (not sure the main difference between the two)
Asked by: Patrick H.
No, that will not fit properly. The contemporary version of the lens is approximately 4.1 x 10.2 (10.41 x 25.91 cm) and the sports version is approximately 4.8 x 11.4 (12.19 x 28.96 cm).

question

can I use this for EOS 6D camera?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, but the cover is only for the lens. But the lens is good for the 6D.

question

Since this lens extends when zoomed, if you have the Lens Coat on the lens barrel at 600mm, does that mean you would have to remove it in order to retract the lens back to 150mm?
Asked by: Amy S.
Lens Coat only covers the parts of then lens, when the lens is retracted, so when you extend the lens, that portion will be exposed.
