At the core of this version is a refined Face Re-Lighting technology, which utilizes a virtual light to produce either more dramatic or natural results with respect to color, tone, brightness, and smoothness. Clearskin4 technology improves the overall quality of skin by automatically removing skin flaws and a touch-up brush can also be used for manual retouching of blemishes, wrinkles, or spots. Skin enhancing, face sculpting, and feature enhancing tools can all be used to adjust the look of subjects' faces, which are automatically detected using automated gender, age, and facial feature finder tools. This 12th version of PortraitPro Studio offers an ideal mixture of manual control and automated tools that help to expedite the entire portrait retouching process.

This program can be used as either a standalone application or as a plug-in with compatible host applications, and it can be used with both 32- and 64-bit versions of Mac or Windows operating systems. Beyond standard JPEG, PNG, and TIFF file support, raw file formats from a variety of camera manufacturers are also supported, as well as 48-bit color files, in order to maintain original image quality. Additionally, an integrated Facebook exporter permits direct uploading of finished photos straight from the program.

Face Re-Lighting
Designed to simulate the effects of adjusting your light source in order to produce more flattering portraits, Face Re-Lighting is a slider-based technology that helps to achieve either more natural or more dramatic results easily. Compared to airbrushing techniques where the skin becomes too smooth, this tool adjusts the color, tone, and brightness to smooth the subject's skin for more pleasing results. For controlling the effect, a virtual light allows you to bias the illumination on a specific portion of the face and then adjust the quality of light using named slider controls.
Skin Enhancing
Using Clearskin4 technology, you can quickly remove skin flaws, such as wrinkles and spots, and smooth the skin while retaining the original texture for natural results.
Face Slimming and Sculpting
These tools allow you to gently reshape portions of a face for a slimmer, more flattering profile.
Gender and Age Detection
Automatic detection of subjects' age and gender allows for more intelligent automated corrections to be applied, regardless if the subjects is male or female, young or old.
Face and Feature Finder
This automated tool can easily detect an unlimited number of faces within an image, as well as 147 facial feature points and skin and hair areas. These selections permit more localized corrections to be made to specific facial features.
Feature Enhancing
Eye, teeth, mouth, and hair enhancements are available, including the ability to naturally whiten teeth, dedicated controls to clean and whiten eyes, moisten lips, and subtly apply makeup effects to eyes.
Skin Color Correction
Intuitive skin color correction control allows you to adjust the overall color and tone of skin for natural yet vivid results.
Image Processing
Version 12 of PortraitPro Studio sees improved processing and overall workflow speeds compared to previous versions. Additionally, this version supports 64-bit operating systems for greater responsiveness and the ability to work with larger file sizes. Support for 32-bit operating systems is maintained, as well, for working on older operating systems.
