The D5's are continuous light sources that feature 5 heat-resistant ceramic sockets for use with daylight fluorescent lamps up to 50W each. Each light's housing features 5 power switches - one for each lamp, giving you advanced output control. Rounding out this kit are two softboxes, two light stands, and a white 5 x 7' X-Drop wrinkle-resistant background with a a stand. This kit provides you with just about everything you need to start shooting.
The Westcott Basics D5 5-Socket Lamp Head is a continuous light source that features 5 heat-resistant ceramic sockets for use with 5 compact fluorescent lamps up to 85W each. The D5 is housed in a durable yet lightweight nylon head and is both CE and UL certified for safety. This housing features 5 power switches - one for each lamp, for the ultimate in output control.
The D5 has an in-line power switch and a comfortable handle for effortless positioning. The fixture's tilter bracket fits on virtually all light stands and has a built-in umbrella receptacle. Optional modifiers such as a 24 x 32" Softbox, 32" Octabox, and 16 x 40" Stripbank are available, all of which come standard with a 1-stop diffusion panel. These modifiers mount quickly into the D5's rod holes and are available in a variety of kits.
The 24 x 32" Standard Softbox for Westcott D5 from Westcott features a silver interior for maximum reflective output and a removable 1-stop front diffusion panel for flattering illumination as a main or key light. This standard rectangular softbox pairs exclusively with the Westcott D5 fluorescent continuous light source and comes with four heat-resistant rods that mount quickly and securely to the D5's built-in rod receptacles. The softbox itself is made from heat-resistant nylon.
The 5 x 7' white X-Drop Background from Westcott is a lightweight and wrinkle-resistant polyester/cotton backdrop that can be used for headshots, product photography, weddings or general commercial photography. It comes with a 2" pole pocket along the top edge and grommet holes on the top and bottom, allowing for easy hanging and eliminating the need to establish a top or bottom orientation. When it gets dirty, the backdrop can be machine-washed in cold water on a delicate cycle and tumble-dried on low. It's designed to work in conjunction with the Westcott X-Drop Background System, but will work on any suitable background support system.
The X-Drop Backdrop Stand for 5 x 7' Backdrop from Westcott features a quick setup and tear down design. The three legs spread out quickly and are freestanding. The three telescopic top arms slide into the main frame. The bottom tips of the stand are rubber and designed for stability. There are little black hooks on the top and bottom of the stand where you secure the backdrop using its grommets. The included travel case with non-removable, adjustable shoulder strap holds the stand and up to three backdrops.
