question

will this work in connecting my rode videomic pro to my camera?
Asked by: Austin H.
Hi Austin, I bought this extension cable to use with my Rode SmartLav+ mic and iPhone 5s. It works great!. The extra length extends the distance I can use the mic. Sound quality is great. So, I can confirm this cable works with the Rode SmartLav+ mic and I assume the same success would occur with any other Rode mic

Will this work with the new Rode Video Mic NTG and Sony a7iii?
Asked by: Matthew
This is a basic TRRS (tip, ring, ring, sleeve) extension cable. The cable is intended for smartphone ready microphones (with a TRRS 1/8" jack). The Rode VideoMic NTG has the necessary TRRS 1/8" male connector but the Alpha a7iii has a TRS (tip, ring, sleeve stereo) jack for mic input. A number of forums cite complaints and problems with the camera accepting mono (TS 1/8" jack) and TRRS jacks. Either the internal camera mic doesn't cut out as intended or the camera only records on one channel rather than stereo. The solution is to get a TRRS to TRS adapter cable if you are having a problem with the mic properly connecting to the camera and overriding the internal mic on the camera. Rode makes one: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1048150-REG/rode_sc3_trrs_to_trs_adaptor.html/?ap=y&ap=y&smp=y&smp=y&lsft=BI%3A514&gclid=Cj0KCQiArvX_BRCyARIsAKsnTxMeeh6Z77WJ91tTym1fuObupwbaNP7JPiVLLNRQW7mKC9524shgG2waAjLsEALw_wcB

question

Do I need another adapter to connect the rode SC6 break out box that will hold 2 lav smart+ mics? How does this all connect please?
Asked by: Prue S.
The Rode SC6 adapter is designed to connect directly to the headset jack of a smartphone. No additional adapters or cables are required. If you wish to use the SC6 at a distance from the phone, you are able to use the SC1 extension cable between the phone and Rode SC6 adapter. https://bhpho.to/2ge3dcb
