Pentax S-Series WP 8x42 Overview

Pentax designed the 8x42 S-Series SD WP Binoculars for a lifetime of rugged outdoor use in all weather and lighting conditions. The 42mm objectives are fully multicoated to reduce reflection and maximize light transmission through the entire optical path. Its roof prisms are phase-corrected to correct for chromatic aberrations, ensuring bright and clear high-contrast images with true color rendition in even low light. Complementing the optical performance are construction details made for the trail. The optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed for fogproof performance and to make them submersible to as deep as 3.3'. The binoculars sport a generous 21mm eye relief, and twist-up eyecups ensure comfortable viewing with or without eye wear. Protective coatings on the exterior lens surfaces repel water, dirt, and oil to keep them clean for unobstructed viewing.

Pentax S-Series WP 8x42 Reviews

ok for the money

Visable distortion at the edges. I have to really try to see the distortion on my old 10x Pentax. Also, there is no more diopter adjustment like my old Pentax 10x. Focus adjustment is now in an odd location too. For $206 you cant complain too much.

Clearly Great

These binoculars are my first pair that I have ever owned, and I am very happy. Clear views and easy use of the dials. They feel good in the hand and aren't bulky. I would definitely buy these again.

Is the the carrying case of good quality? Does the carrying case have a strap (as stated in the "In The Box" section), or NO strap (as stated in Michael's review)? Please clarify.

The case I received with these binoculars in June 2020 has no strap and no means of attaching one unless you want to sew one on.

Is the interpupillary distance adjustable to fit the varying distances of the eyes in wide and/or narrow faces?
Asked by: Gerard
The IPD range on these goes from a minimum distance of 5.6cm up to 7.4cm, which as you can see by comparing the IPD with others is a good range for a bin in this class and means they should accommodate most people.
