Yamaha P-45 Overview

The P-45 Compact 88-Key Portable Digital Piano from Yamaha features a grand piano sound created by AWM Stereo Sampling. Its 88-key Graded Hammer keyboard models the action of an acoustic piano and provides 4 levels of touch sensitivity.

The keyboard includes grand piano, electric piano, organ, strings, harpsichord, and vibraphone voices with 64-note polyphony. It features metronome, transpose, and tuning calibration functions as well as 4 types of reverb. The keyboard can also be split into layers or Duo mode for teaching. A USB to host port allows for use of the keyboard as a MIDI controller.

This was a gift for my grandson who is learning to play the piano. Hopefully it will motivate him to keep practicing at home and will performed close to his teacher acoustic piano. Time will tell is this Yamaha will last at least past it warranty. I am certain it will; Yamaha is a very well respected company.

We received the keyboard and extras in excellent condition. The feel of the weighted keys are perfect for piano practice, and the sound is also perfect. With headphones, I can practice any time of day/night. B&H made the purchase easy, and I got the product within a few days.

I love my Yamaha digital piano! If you’re looking for a weighted keyboard (that FEELS like an acoustic piano) without all the frills and is compact with a sleek design...this bundle is it! I purchased headphones and sustain pedal elsewhere with better quality even though I would’ve saved some money buying the other bundle that included it. The only problem is I was expecting a storage bench (handy for my music sheets/books), as it was described under “highlights”. But looking back, picture does show regular bench, which I’m still happy with - sturdy and much better looking than the “x” bench offered in other bundles. Shipping was quick (and free!) and everything was very well packaged. Extremely happy with my purchase!

This is a solid piano with nice key action. Simple to play, a few voices and some useful functions (split keyboard, metronome...) plus USB connectivity. It would be nice to have a better sustain pedal (1/2 pedal) included instead of a basic version.

sorry for a late answer. it has an USB type B, a pedal jack, headphones jack and one for power source. thats it. i believe the USB is for connecting to computer and other devices.

Yes, the Yamaha P-45 does have a transpose feature. The keyboard can transpose six half steps down and six half steps up. Great feature and when you transpose the keyboard sounds don't change - it's only a pitch adjustment.
