B+W 65-069633 overview

  • 1Description

Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

The B+W #960 metal telephoto lens hood is made of black-anodized aluminum with light-absorbing flat black ribs on the inside, and due to it's cylindrical shape this hood is especially suited for telephoto lenses.

77mm Screw-In Metal Telephoto Lens Hood #960 is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid, but lightweight metal hood It is expensive for a hood, but I figured I'll buy one for several lenses. I like it even more than foldable Keiser rubber hood, which I also have. It does not cross-screw. This metal hood is just elegant and works well as a hood and protection. I only tried it on a 16-85 mm zoom and 5o and 85 mm primes on Nikon D7000. It worked perfect in the 50-85 mm range, but caused vignetting at shorter focal lengths, as expected. At 16 mm it actually produced a nice circle that could be a good artistic option to have without post-processing. I plan to keep this hood on my lens of choice most of the time (rather than transport separately and attach/detach every time).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lens Hood This is very sturdy and fits solidly to the lens or filter if you have a filter on the lens. You can still use a polarizing filter with this hood...you cannot with the bayonet hoods. The lens cap also fits well on this hood since the end of the hood has 77mm threads. It also works for those nifty screw in metal lens caps. The inside is entirely threaded which serves to break up reflections. All in all, a very nice product that I like far better than the plastic hoods that come with Canon L lenses. With step down adaptors, I can use it on all of my lenses except wide angle which give you very cute circular pictures :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I got this for my Nikon 105mm/f2 DC lens The on-lens hood is just too short to be effective. This B+W hood works much better in blocking out unwanted light. I chose this size (77mm) plus a 72-77mm step up ring so that I can use my 77mm CP on this lens as well. You can use either a 72mm lens cap inside the hood or a 77mm lens cap the normal way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight, But Strong I use this lens hood along with my Nikon 200 f4 Micro lens. Since most of my filters are 77mm, I purchased a 62-77mm step up ring. Then, I needed a 77mm lens hood as well. This lens hood is very light, but strong. It is threaded on the end so that I can attach filters. And, my lens cap also attaches easily to the end of the hood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I needed! I had acquired the out of production Tokina 100-300 AT-X II f4 telephoto lens last fall but it didn't include the lens hood. I contacted Tokina hoping they might have some new old stock but no such luck. I then found this metal lens hood that looks exactly like the original and it is perfect!! Fit and finish could not be better and only reaffirms B+W's quality reputation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from JUST WHAT I NEEDED I purchased an old used Sigma lens with the lens hood missing. I called Sigma to get a replacement, but was told that they no longer made the hood for my particular lens. I tried several different hoods, but none fit quite right until this one. It'll get the job done!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solved a specific need... This was purchased for a specific lens in mind. In combination with a 77mm Snap-On Lens Cap and PRO 62-77mm Brass Step-Up Ring this 77mm Screw-In Metal Telephoto Lens Hood I bought along with it, it is a perfect combination for my Nikkor 200mm macro lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good, solid, hood I like parts that screw together. This hood will screw into a filter or step up adapter and will take a screw on (or snap on) lens cap. If screwed into a polarizing filter, the filter can be adjusted by turning the hood.
