The Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1 Motherboard from Asus is designed to fit in standard size ATX cases. The 12 x 9.6" Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1 supports 5th, New 4th, and 4th generation Intel Core i7, i5, i3, Pentium, and Celeron processors. The Sabertooth Z97 has been designed to deliver power and speed to Internet browsing, extreme gaming, and CAD software. It also features a strengthened backplate and a flexible cooling system for increased stability. This motherboard is compatible with Windows 8.1, 8, and 7 operating systems.
The ATX form factor of the Sabertooth Z97 can support 32GB of RAM and comes with 4 x DIMM slots that can each hold 8GB of DDR3 1866 / 1600 / 1333 / 1066 MHz non-ECC, unbuffered memory modules for dual channel memory architecture. The Sabertooth Z97 also has a total of 6 x SATA III 6 Gb/s ports, 1 x SATA Express connector, 8 x USB 3.0 ports, 8 x USB 2.0 ports, 1 x DisplayPort, 1 x HDMI port, 5 x audio jacks, 1 x S/PDIF, and 2 x Gigabit LAN ports. To provide data redundancy, RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 modes are supported. For PCIe expansion, there are two PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 slots (single at x16, dual at x8/x8), one PCIe 2.0 x16 slot (max at x4 mode), and three PCIe x1 slots.
The Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1 is designed to be a complete solution provider. To this end, it undergoes thermal shock, MTBF, and whole-grade server-stability tests of over 7,000 hours and compatibility checks with over 1,000 devices. To help it achieve these standards, this motherboard is built with Thermal Armor and a flow valve to help optimize airflow and boost heat dissipation, as well as Thermal Radar 2, which is customized fan tuning to help tweak system cooling. TUF ICe is a microchip that helps deliver precise temperature monitoring and fan controls, and the TUF Fortifier helps improve rigidity and cooling behind the board, to help ensure that the motherboard won't collapse under heavy components. The TUF Fortifier also includes a thermal pad to help direct heat away from the VRM and other components.
TUF Fortifier also includes a thermal pad that helps direct heat away from the VRM and other components, which helps reduce operating temperatures by up to 45°F / 7°C
