This small black LensCoat TravelHood is designed for 300mm f/2.8, 200-400mm f/4, 400 DO f/4, and 500mm f/4 lenses as a lightweight and portable alternative to a standard lens hood. Its ribbed design allows it to wrap around the lens and fold flat to pack into your bag. Made from water-resistant material, the TravelHood can be used in inclement weather, protecting your lens from the elements, scratches, and lens flare. Would this fit, in addition WITH the standard lens hood on Nikon 500mm PF? Need a longer hood for extreme backlighting.
The LensCoat TravelHood is made to work in place of the original lens hood on a Nikon 500mm PF lens and not along with it.

Anybody use this with a Nikkor 70-200mm 2.8? and how bad is the vignette problem?
The LensCoat TravelHood (Small, Black) was made for larger lenses like the Nikon 300mm f2.8 or 200-400mm f4. It would be too big to fit a 70-200mm.

I was told by someone who purchased the small LensCoat travel hood that it was too small and really didn't fit the 500 F4 ll very well. How is the fit and will the next size up fit better?
Unfortunately we cannot measure or test this combination as the Canon 500mm F4 ll lens hood is a Special Order item, and LensCoat does not provide any dimensions for the travel hood. We would recommend you contact LensCoat for recommendations based upon the equipment.

I have the Canon 600mm F/4 II. When you're not using the standard hard lens hood, the cloth/velcro lens cap doesn't really fit on the end of the lens snugly. How do you all cover your lens front?
While I do not see a lens cap designed specifically for use with the LensCoat TravelHood (Large, Black), the LensCoat Hoodie Lens Hood Cover (4X-Large, Black), B&H # LELCH4XLBK, may work for your usage needs.
