Will this hold a laptop securely enough to allow grabbing the stand with one hand, and keeping it reasonably level move the stand with laptop to a new location?
The Auray LTS-ST Tripod Base Laptop Stand is very sturdy and solid. I put a ASUS TUF 15" gaming notebook on it and there is no problem carrying it around using one hand.

Will a 17 laptop fit securely upon the top? Mine is exactly 16 1/2 wide and just want to make sure it will fit in between retaining edges. Thank you.
That size laptop wil fit but, you will have a hard time plugging in your power cord and any flash drives due to the edges that secure the laptop in place. Other than that this stand is awesome. Sturdy and durable.
