For the price you can't go wrong. I like for macro photography without a tripod. With the size it makes it not so awkward on your flash.

Works well for the $$$

Softens the light and shadows pretty well for its size. Wish they could find a material that would help it keep its shape much better than it does. The Box is constantly collapsing, or trying to fold itself back flat. Pretty annoying, but usable in a pinch.

Worked pretty well softening light for a wedding on a Godox flash off camera for a wedding. Wants to stay in folded form until you play with it a lot. Stays on flash, lighrweight, extra inside fold away diffuser helps soften more. Came with a pouch that I can put another even smaller folding softbox in along with it. Good price.

Overall, happy with it for its small size (for travel use), for its material quality, and for its noticeable softening effect (still kind of harsh compared with large soft box).

It is a little dfficult to attach to a Canon 430EX III-RT. Not usable with a smaller flash like 270EX III. Once attached, does the job.

Product works as one would expect from a small portable soft box. Size is just right and light weight. Rated at 4 stars because integrated elastic strap with a touch tab fastener is a bit large on an SB-800

Enhances the flash dramatically. Softens for an excellent look.

It's well made and it folds.

I brought this to use on a speedlight at events. The point is to make your flash larger and also scatter the light to make it less concentrated and this little softbox does just that. It's not complicated but it can only work if the device is properly designed and well made and this softbox checks both of those boxes. It takes the edge off shadows. That's all. I use it without the additional internal diffuser but I do use the flash unit's wide angle filter deployed over the flash head, it does a good job of filling the softbox with light. *Better speedlights have a built in wide angle filter that you pull out and let drop to cover the flash head. The device's internal diffuser can be used or not used. It's a small flap of diffusion material that is sewn in on one end and has velcro on the other end that holds it in place when in use or not in use. Clever design. The system for holding it on the flash works well. You pull the back of it over your flash head and wrap the elastic strap around it and use the Velcro to hold the strap in place. Once attached it does not flop around, it stays where you put it. Also it comes with a slip case which helps keep the front surface clean in your camera bag. So overall, it's a simple thing done properly.

Yes, but you'd probably need to use it off camera to get the angle right.

question

Will this fix a Canon Speedlite 270 EX II?
Asked by: Daniel
I have a 270 exII speedlite. This softbox is not a good fit on that flash. The flash head is too small. The elastic band on the softbox has to be stretched so much that the sides of the softbox collapse inward and block the light.

No, it will not block it--I was trying some things last week & I know that.

question

I'm a newbie shooting real estate photography and am wondering if this is a good option for me. My main question pertains to the difference between this and an umbrella?
Asked by: Scott
In my opinion this is too small for shooting real estate. I would choose a Large umbrella, or possibly the Gary Fong light sphere with the chrome insert. You would get almost 180 degrees of lighting. I would shoot on a tripod for sure. View some videos of the light sphereThe small Vello soft box is better suited for single or double portraits.

question

What a s the stiffening mechanism or material? Is it robust enough to hold its shape after repeated fold-ups and storing away in the camera bag?
Asked by: Matthew
It seems fairly stout..I do not use mine as much since I have a Gary Fong softener now..I get better results with that diffuser.
