The CellTap 4C Wireless Phone Audio Tap Adapter from JK Audio is a passive device designed to allow you to record phone calls for interview and archival purposes. It's intended to be used in conjunction with a recording device or mixer.

Using a 3.5mm TRRS cable, you can route your phone's headset output into the Phone jack of the CellTap 4C. Then plug your TRRS-compatible headset into the jack marked, "Headset." Finally, connect the Record jack to a mic-level input on your recording interface or mixer to capture a stereo recording. The transformer coupled stereo output provides your microphone's audio on the left channel and the caller on the right channel, allowing you to split the signal and mix accordingly in a host DAW if you so choose.

Note: A TRRS headset is required for operation.

CellTap 4C Wireless Phone Audio Tap Adapter is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well thought out solution. Very pleased with the quality of the Celltap 4C. Passive and requires no batteries, simple to use, robust and portable which is ideal for our field reporters to capture sound bites and interviews. The great advantage is the caller and host are recorded to separate tracks without the need hybrid devices as per landlines. This helps reduce noise and one can balance the levels of the guest and host, both of which are very good from the outset. Works superbly with the Nagra Lino. A great sounding compact interface at a great price and a superb addition for our field reports to keep in their kit bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Pro Quality Cell Phone Tap I looked at using a recording app since iPhones do not support internal call recording. They are all too complicated, expensive, and simply a pain to use. It became obvious that I had to use a separate recorder to record cell phone calls on an iPhone. I got this unit to record the best quality sound when needed for film work. For the price nothing else beats it. It works perfectly with my iPhone 6. I use either an Olympus LS-11, TASCAM DR-100 MkII, or with a proper cable a Sound Devices recorder. I also have an Olympus TP-8 Telephone Pick-Up that B&H sells that costs almost nothing and it works pretty well with very little set up required. However as another reviewer said this CellTap provides two output channels (local and remote callers) that can be mixed in post for best overall sound quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Finally I can do good cell phone interviews I am working on news story projects that require me to do tape interviews via my iPhone 5s. This has been real good thus far. I would give it five stars but haven't had it long enough to be complete sure. But I can it works better than other products I've used.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not all cell phones work I couldn't get mine to work with my iPhone 5S and had to return it. I could only record the caller's voice and not mine. There are three TRRS settings and none worked. From JK Audio's FAQ's on the Cell Tap (edition before the 4C): Unfortunately, we are seeing this more often with the newer generation of cell phones. Many of them do not provide sidetone, which is your own audio at the headset output jack. If your audio is not present at the headset jack, it cannot be recorded as there is no other way we can access the audio on a cell phone. You might try the Cell Tap with another cell phone to see if it will be compatible. To test the phone first, connect your headset to the phone and listen carefully to the headset while you speak into the mic. If you can hear your own voice in the headset then the phone should work... Hopefully in the future something will come out. It is made of solid metal (aluminium?) and well constructed. The plugs ports are sturdy too. However, unless cell phone manufacturers standardize the TRRS and sidetone functionality, items like this are too expensive to try out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value at a great Price I use the product for over the phone interviews for film use. It was simple to hook up and adjust for quality recording. I have no issues with the product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for Mac My wife is wanting to record phone interviews for her work's podcast and found this to try. Simply put, doesn't work well with mac. We have Studio One 3 software, an iRig PRO, and even an old iMic. Nothing would record both sides. JK Audio's tech support would only say, This is how it should work for the iPhone 6. So after hours of experimenting, it's a bust.
