Met my needs

A cost-effective, convenient tool for its purpose. Due to it being made of card-stock, it doesn't have a perfectly flat bottom, but I didn't find that to be a problem.

I was having some focusing issues on my Canon 24-70mm L on my 6D mk2 and needed to test it out. This tool made it super easy for me to dial in settings to get my lens working properly with my camera body.

Not Useful For Me

Tried to check focus on Canon 5D Mark III, 100 macro, and 100-400. Tried -20/ 20 down to -5/ 5. Could not tell enough of a difference to prove where correct focus was. Not saying I wasted my $, maybe it’s just me.

I have purchased several different targets over the years and this one is not worth the price of admission. Sorry, Joseph, you're a good guy this is just not a good tool. This is printed on card stock and you fold it into a pyramid shape. Focusing on the target is not that great given the small lines and limited contrast. The pyramid itself is light and tends to move unless you tape it down. Storage is difficult given the strange shape. Even flat it is prone to damage. Save your money there are a lot of much better targets on the market.

works as advertised.

Items works as advertised.  I was amazed at how far off the  autofocus on my camera was until I adjusted it using this handy tool.   Ive read conflicting info on adjusting autofocus on zoom lenses.  Some sources state adjusting autofocus is only for prime lenses.  Other sources state adjusting autofocus for zooms is fine.  Ive read that one can just pick the center focal length or one can take an average of the longest, shortest, and center focal length readings.  The latter is a time consuming and tedious process but yielded improved results for me.  Better than sending my lens out to be recalibrated while Im in the middle of a busy season.

Very useful tool for autofocus calibration

Cardboard Junk

This tool is constructed of 100% thin cardboard - barely thicker than cardstock. As a result, it can only be constructed and flattened a few times before the material degrades. The flat surfaces bulge, which impacts stability and can impact focus. I am very disappointed.

question

Will this work for longer telephoto lenses? Say 150-500?
Asked by: Richard N.
It's more for prime lenses as 500mm will be different for 150mm as the glass elements move in the lens so if you calibrate for 150, 500 won't be the same.
