Using VC paper, does this set contain filters that would lower contrast?
The Ilford Multigrade Filter Set comes with twelve (12) filters that are numbered 00 - 5 in 1/2 steps, with the lowest filter number corresponding to the softest contrast. As the #2 filter is generally regarded as the typical amount of contrast we see with our eyes, anything lower than a #2 filter (more yellow) would appear to reduce contrast, while anything above #2 filter would appear to increase contrast.

I'll have to cut the filters to fit a 5Ã5" above ...
I'll have to cut the filters to fit a 5Ã5" above lens holder. Will that remove the filter number identification? Can you suggest a way to organize the filters for quick identification of filter number? Thanks
The filter number is in one corner of the filter, it's up to you if you cut it off or not. I accidentally did on a couple and just wrote it again with a sharpie.
The filters come in a little spiral bound book with a tab for each filter, keep them in there and they'll be kept organized.

What country are the Ilford filters manufactured?
The set I bought several months ago does not have an explicit Made in X label on the box or inner printed material. It simply has HARMAN technology Limited...Cheshire...England on the back of the box.
