ikan's Micro Spot On-Camera Light is a lightweight, cool-to-the touch, daylight-balanced, on-camera LED about the size of a small flashlight. The front of the light incorporates a lens system that creates a 30° beam angle providing a directional light well suited for on-camera use or also as a kicker light. The unit features a discrete on/off switch and is dimmable from 100 to 10% by using an integrated thumb wheel on the side.

Leveraging LED technology, the light only draws between 1 and 4 watts while producing its bright daylight-balanced beam. A removable barndoor setup features two solid doors for light control, a CTO filter, and a 1/2 diffusion filter. The doors, CTO, and diffusion fold over each other, allowing you to use both the CTO and diffusion at the same time. Although you can hold the unit in your hand, it does feature a built-in cold-shoe mounting foot that includes an integrated 1/4"-20 threaded mounting hole.

The internal battery charges in about 2 hours when using a readily available 5 VDC 1 amp USB charger.
The unit will run for between 90 and 120 minutes on a single charge.

Micro Spot On-Camera Light (Daylight) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 95.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for it's size! This little light works great for what it is. Provides considerable light for run and gun video. I have used it to video animals at night and the quality is fantastic. It can be used to take still photos in a pinch. Not something you'll use for portraits. It's the perfect light to have in your bag when the ambient light is failing and you need to finish shooting. It weighs nothing and lasts for an hour or more at full power. Charges from usb connector so you can recharge it on the run. I'm considering buying more to keep in my bag and car just in case. Every Photojournalist should have one or two of these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive small continous light The micro spot is quite impressive for its compact size. Can be used to put light exactly where you want it on small detail areas of subject. This is an advantage on food and product shots. More than just a powerful flashlight, the beam is clear and even with a smooth glow. A set of removeable barn doors is included, two side doors are black, one is amber for color balance, the other is frosted clear for diffusion. Color temperature balance is near daylight. Recharge is convenient using a USB plug and the cord is included. Overall build quality is plastic but solid and a precise fit of componemts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small package, small unit - good cast Very impressed with the light out put - The barn doors are still an issue. Only having 2 is okay but they stay vertical in use. I flipped it, with an articulating arm on it's side to have side barn doors. Works well, but the flaw now is the connector for the barn doors. In an ENG setting a little bump can cause the barn doors to unhook and fall. The overall footprint on this light is great. There are way to many camera operators using over sized lights on their camera. This little guy is all you need for ENG.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Size is right for m43 run-and-gun I've used this for doing interview-style run-and-gun with my m43 and between this and the matching Ikan Microflood and it's a good combo with fairly nice CRI and light-weight/compact size. I looked at cheaper systems and the quality of the lighting color just didn't meet my requirements. Both lights charge off USB so no batteries are required. I've run for more than an hour and had no issues with the light intensity diminishing. The flood does need about 1/4 CTO. The spot doesn't have quite the CRI, but does have CTO and diffusion filters and a pair of barn doors to shape the output. If size and weight are an issue and you need high-quality lighting, it's hard to beat either light. It's also a nice combo for still photography, especially if you do hybrid work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handier than it might seem I purchased this little light to use with my old Canon Vixia HD camcorder. It is of small form factor and its built-in battery lasts long enough that I don't have to worry about it (I've had it on for 30 minutes at a time). I used the 1/4 mount on the shoe to allow me to hold it off axis using a selfie stick or my monopod as well as just using my hand and arm. It really steps up candid vids at church and home events and prevents that washed out low contrast look that can happen if the light is a bit low. It doesn't get hot, and I like being able to soften up the light a bit with the filters. I have messed with the barn doors, but frankly they don't seem to do so much except in macro shots. That could be just my issue and a real vid guy would use them to great effect. If you need to hot up your subjects in your casual vids, this is the way to go.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small but very big bright light This light is much smaller than you might think, but it is very bright. Also, it can be controlled to shine on a very small area with it's barn doors. The one flaw, in my opinion, is the placing of the two filters where there would usually be barn doors and only having two real barn doors instead of four. In other words, there are two solid barn doors and two filters for barn doors. Lastly, although I like this unit, I feel that it is overpriced and I got it on sale at about half off

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Glad I have it, but it's not perfect... Good little unit, with some caveats. Light quality is excellent, and auto white balance features of both the GX7 and GX85 render decent out-of-camera colors. The barn doors and folding filters are surprisingly handy. Battery life is fine, and the USB charging lets me use a battery pack if I need to; that said, I'd prefer replaceable batteries. I frequently use it one-handed for side-lighting macros, and its slightly tapered body makes it hard to hang onto when I activate the very stiff push-button switch on the end of the unit; I would have preferred a side-mounted power switch. It would be great if it had a tilting mount, and I'll pick one up for on-camera use eventually.
