ikan's Micro Spot On-Camera Light is a lightweight, cool-to-the touch, daylight-balanced, on-camera LED about the size of a small flashlight. The front of the light incorporates a lens system that creates a 30° beam angle providing a directional light well suited for on-camera use or also as a kicker light. The unit features a discrete on/off switch and is dimmable from 100 to 10% by using an integrated thumb wheel on the side.

question
what is the length of effective light beam?
I need to cut the power back at 10-15 feet. Lots of range. The battery lasts over 60 min. To day I used it as a bounce light for 55 min. at full power with no loss.

question
Is this unit suitable for still photography?
to photo small items, or to add a touch of fill light it's ok... super bright, but being that it's only one bulb and the light source is small it casts a hard light as it needs to be close.... limited use... got mine with a kit that included the small square ikan video light as well...mostly use for macro, or small table top work....

question
Can you run it with a power cord?
I have plugged in the usb connection to charge and it runs... never tested to see if it's full output...

question
The rated CRI is quite low for a video light and would likely not render colors accurately. Any chance this is a misprint -- it seems quite low at well below 80 cri?
You are correct, the CRI is a bit low. This isn't meant to be a primary, production-grade instrument, but a quick and inexpensive item to throw into your travel bag, or the glove box in your car. You won't win any awards for excessively creative or inspiring lighting (probably), but you'll be able to shoot in the dark if you weren't quite prepared if you keep this handy.
